Unsloth: appearance palettes, customization options, and control restyle (#7077)
* Unsloth: appearance palettes, customization options, and control restyle

Adds Standard, Classic, and Minimal color palettes to Appearance settings,
each adapting to light and dark mode. Classic is a neutral enterprise look
that reserves its blue accent for toggles, badges, and focus rings; Minimal
is strictly black, grey, and white.

Adds customization options scoped to the active mode: accent, background,
and foreground colors with an in-app color picker, UI and code fonts with a
searchable dropdown covering bundled, device, and imported fonts, font file
import, UI and code font sizes, contrast, pointer cursors, reduce motion,
font smoothing, and translucent sidebar. Settings persist through the
personalization API with backend validation and sync across devices.

Restyles core controls for a cleaner, flatter look in both modes: bordered
white input fields, fully rounded pills for single-row controls, no drop
shadows, simple straight-line chevrons replacing all rounded arrow icons,
and consistent hover tones in dropdown menus. Popovers now portal into the
open dialog so their lists scroll correctly inside modal dialogs.

Moves Language into General settings and Chat defaults into the Chat tab
above the Canvas section.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Unsloth: appearance follow-ups, font options, and settings search

Neutralizes focus and selection rings across all palettes so highlighted
elements, including typing boxes and the selected palette card, never take
the accent color. The custom accent no longer recolors rings.

Restyles the color controls as filled pills showing the hex value inside,
with text and border contrast picked from the color's luminance. Menus in
popovers now match the app's dropdown menus: rounded-lg corners, tighter
padding, accent hover rows, and a bordered search field. Popovers inside
modal dialogs are modal so their lists scroll with the wheel. Outline
buttons share the same dark fills as dropdown triggers.

Adds heading and chat font options next to the UI and code fonts, each
using the searchable font dropdown and persisting through the
personalization API. Removes the translucent sidebar option end to end.

Adds settings search: a search field at the top of the settings sidebar
that filters setting names across every tab, grouped by tab with icons,
and jumps to the tab on click.

* Unsloth: use the shared accent token for dark hover fills

The settings dialog nav, its close button, the model selector, and the
project switcher hovered with hardcoded blue tinted greys (#3a3d43,
#2d2e32) in dark mode while every menu and sidebar uses --accent. All
hover and active pill fills now use the accent token so dark hovers are
the same everywhere and adapt to the active palette.

* Unsloth: settings search polish and jump to matched setting

Widens the settings dialog to 880px and the sidebar column to 248px so
the search field has more room. The search pill aligns with the left
start of the Settings title, gets more spacing above and below, and its
icon and placeholder sit slightly further left.

Search results now jump to the exact setting: rows and sections expose
their label as a data attribute, and picking a result opens the tab,
scrolls the matched row into view, and flashes it briefly.

* Unsloth: settings search bar spans the full nav pill width

The search field now starts and ends at the same edges as the nav hover
pills instead of being inset to the title text.

* Unsloth: address review findings on motion, sync, and font limits

Reduce motion Off now opts back out of the OS reduced-motion preference
for CSS animations via a force-motion class that the media rules skip,
and forcing reduce motion On keeps the loader exceptions (spinners,
loading dots, progress bars) animating.

When the color scheme follows the system, the resolved mode is now part
of the theme store snapshot, so an OS scheme flip re-renders consumers
and reapplies per-mode custom colors instead of leaving stale inline
variables from the previous mode.

Imported fonts get an aggregate size cap (4.4M characters) on both the
frontend sanitizer and the backend model so the persisted store always
fits browser localStorage quotas, with a clear error toast when an
import would exceed it. Backend validation also tightens imported font
names (rejects CSS delimiter characters) and requires strict base64
font data URLs, matching the frontend patterns.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Unsloth: profile toggle to hide the sloth in the chat greeting

Adds a Show greeting sloth switch to Settings > Profile. The chat welcome
hides the mascot when it is off. The preference persists locally and
through the personalization API, with backend validation and tests, and
the row is reachable from settings search in all four locales.

* Unsloth: control restyle, dropdown scrolling, and palette consistency

Settings sidebar puts search on top with the tab list under a small
Settings label. Combobox popups scroll with the wheel inside dialogs by
falling back to manual list scrolling while a dialog scroll lock is
active, and the local model selector popover became modal for the same
reason. Number inputs swap native spinners for a shared grey stepper
that clamps to min, max, and step. Run settings fields in light mode use
the same white fill and border as the settings dialog. Selection and
focus rings derive from each palette's border color instead of near
black, hover borders soften the same way, the Classic sidebar stays
white like Standard, decorative greens follow the palette accent, and
meaning-carrying marks like the hub verified badge keep the brand green
in every palette.

* Unsloth: palette card selection keyed off the palette attribute

Switching palettes restyles the whole page the moment data-palette lands
on the html element, but the React re-render that moves the selection
classes arrives later, so the ring and check briefly stayed on the
previous card with the new palette's colors. The active ring and check
now key off html[data-palette] in CSS, so they swap in the same style
pass that swaps the tokens. Also adds breathing room around the settings
search bar and under the Settings label, shortens the greeting sloth
description, and renames the avatar section to Or pick a sloth profile
picture in all locales.

* Unsloth: restore neutral rings, drop the palette check, sidebar spacing

Puts the ring tokens back to their fixed per palette values and removes
the hover border darkening, undoing the derived border experiment. The
selected palette card no longer shows a check since the ring already
marks it. The settings sidebar search bar, nav pills, and search results
get a little side padding, and the Settings label lines up with the pill
text.

* Unsloth: indicator restyle, sidebar menu customization, edge fade toggle

- Derive focus and selection rings from the border color so indicators
stay 1px and adapt to every theme and palette
- Suppress mouse focus rings except on pressed controls to remove the
selection flash on the avatar and palette pickers
- Defer settings panel rendering so the active nav pill updates instantly
- Customizable sidebar user menu with drag to reorder and shortcuts to
  the settings tabs
- Grey hover for the standard light palette instead of green
- Borderless controls in dark mode with fill based focus states
- Profile picture: no picture option, pencil edit icon, atomic selection
- Font dropdowns: narrower triggers and the resolved default shown as
  Inter Variable (Default)
- System prompt border darkens on focus
- New appearance setting to swap edge fades for thin divider lines
- Move the theme bootstrap to an external script to satisfy CSP

* Unsloth: harden theme boot and Firefox scroll container focus

- Guard the theme and palette storage reads separately so a blocked
localStorage (private browsing) still resolves a mode from the OS
preference instead of skipping the boot entirely
- Firefox makes scrollable containers keyboard focusable and drew its
3px UA outline on them; swap it for the app's soft 1px indicator

* Unsloth: make the UI and code font settings reach the font utilities

The theme block declared the sans and mono stacks as literals, so
Tailwind inlined them into every font-sans and font-mono utility at
build time and the runtime overrides from Settings > Appearance never
applied. Reference the :root tokens instead, matching how the color
tokens already work.

* Unsloth: in-dropdown font upload, accent meters and avatar, naming cleanup

- Move font importing into each font dropdown: Upload and Select folder
sit side by side under the list, imported fonts get an inline remove,
and the standalone Import font row is gone
- Uploads reuse fonts the user already has (bundled, imported, or
installed, matched by file name with style suffixes stripped) instead
of embedding a duplicate copy; only new fonts are embedded
- Folder scan lists font files from a picked folder in every dropdown
for the session; picking one imports it through the same path
- Fallback avatar uses the control accent with a readable foreground
instead of the neutral primary that rendered black outside standard
- Monitor bars, progress defaults, sliders, and usage meters use the
control accent; warning and danger tiers stay amber and red
- User facing strings that called the app just Studio now say Unsloth
in all four locales, keeping Unsloth Studio and LM Studio intact

* Unsloth: left align the font upload actions and divide them

Upload and Select folder now read from the left like the list items,
with a short vertical rule between the two.

* Unsloth: keep sliders neutral and the chat greeting on Hellix

- Sliders are controls, not meters, so their fill goes back to the
neutral primary instead of the palette accent
- The base h1 rule reads --font-heading with !important and the chat
thread root resets that variable to the sans stack, which pulled the
greeting off Hellix; restore the stack on the greeting element

* Unsloth: move the None avatar cell last and keep footer actions on one line

- None sits after the sloth pictures instead of leading the grid
- Upload shrinks to its label so Select folder no longer wraps

* Unsloth: size the folder action to its label

Both footer actions now hug their content so the hover pill does not
stretch across the leftover row width.

* Unsloth: separators only between unrelated settings clusters

Rows inside a titled section are related, so the per row divide-y is
gone from SettingsSection. A SettingsGroupDivider marks the two real
boundaries in the theme section (colors to fonts, fonts to contrast)
and the Clear all chats row gets its destructive border back now that
divide-y no longer draws one for it.

* Unsloth: balance the two font upload actions

Both actions share the footer row evenly again; nowrap keeps Select
folder on one line at the narrower width.

* Unsloth: drop the theme section dividers and split the chat menu groups

The colors, fonts, and contrast rows read fine without rules, and the
chat menu gains its one real boundary between the pin toggles and the
disclaimer rows.

* Unsloth: normalize oversized sidebar menus and reject newline font data URLs

Two backend validation fixes in PersonalizationCustomization:

- sidebarMenu refused any list longer than the number of distinct ids
because Field(max_length) is enforced before the dedupe validator runs.
A stale or duplicated payload that would normalize to one entry per id
was rejected outright, defeating the normalizer that exists for exactly
that case. Cap the incoming list at a generous multiple so it reaches
the validator; a pathologically long list is still refused.

- The imported font dataUrl validator used re.match on a pattern ending
in $, which also matches just before a trailing newline, so
"data:font/woff2;base64,AAAA\n" passed even though the frontend JS
pattern rejects it. Use re.fullmatch for parity.

Adds covering tests for both.

* Unsloth: preview fonts in their own typeface and slim the color pills

- Every font dropdown entry, the default item, and the closed trigger
render in the font they name, falling back to the UI stack for
  families the browser cannot resolve
- Color swatch pills drop from 36px to 28px so they sit closer to the
  row label height

* Unsloth: drop the font row and theme section descriptions

The labels carry the meaning on their own; the mode switching note in
particular read long and confusing.

* Unsloth: let the chat greeting follow the heading font setting

The greeting stays on Hellix by default but adopts a chosen heading
font through a --custom-heading-font variable the applier sets only
while an override exists, so the thread root's sans reset for chat
prose no longer hides the user's pick from the greeting.

* Unsloth: divide the theme section clusters and align the color pill height

Separators return between colors and fonts and between fonts and
contrast, and the color pills share the 32px height of the font
dropdown triggers.

* Unsloth: color pills at half the dropdown width

Fixed w-24 against the w-48 font triggers, with tighter padding so the
hex value still fits.

* Studio: update dep-removal test after next-themes was replaced

The frontend no longer declares next-themes or imports it in src (it was
replaced by the custom theme store and boot script), so the checker now
reports its removal as a safe no-op. The C1 and C8 fixtures in
test_frontend_dep_removal.py still asserted next-themes was a used
dependency, which fails the studio frontend CI dependency-removal safety
check. Update C1 to expect a no-op PASS and drop next-themes from the C8
expected failures so the suite matches the checker's correct output.

* Studio: remove unused ageLabel and exportCollectionJsonl helpers

* Studio: fix blocked-storage theme desync, search jump race, font validation

- theme-store.ts: keep an in-memory currentTheme/currentPalette so a selected
value survives when localStorage is blocked (private browsing). The snapshots
previously re-read empty storage and reverted React state to the default while
the DOM already changed. The matchMedia handler no longer re-reads storage, so
it cannot clobber the in-memory choice; cross-tab storage events still adopt.
- settings-dialog.tsx: the search jump waited a single fixed 60ms for the
deferred tab panel to render, then silently missed under render lag. Retry
across animation frames until the target row exists, then scroll and flash.
- settings.py: apply the font-name character check to the four selected-font
fields (uiFont/headingFont/chatFont/codeFont), and forbid backslash, comma,
slash and control characters so a name cannot escape the quoted CSS
font-family or smuggle extra fallbacks. Adds covering tests.

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Fix appearance customization edge cases for PR #7077

- Reset all local preferences now also clears palette and appearance customization
- Number input wrapper keeps full width so fields fill their flex/grid cell, and the stepper stays pinned to the field edge
- Number stepper snaps to the min anchored step grid like the native spinner instead of leaving a step-invalid value
- Code font now applies to chat code fences and inline code via a dedicated token
- Reduce motion (on/off) is honored by onboarding/tour confetti and the theme toggle view transition
- Re-importing a font under the same name with new bytes now swaps the FontFace
- Keep local customization when a synced record predates the customization field, and re-push it

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Align client font name sanitization with server validation for PR #7077

sanitizeFont now strips the same characters the backend _FONT_NAME_FORBIDDEN
rejects (backslash, slash, comma, backtick) plus control chars, so a locally
chosen font name can no longer pass the client but fail the personalization PUT
and silently stall appearance sync.

* Address follow-up review items for PR #7077

- Number input wrapper carries React Flow interaction classes (nodrag/nopan/nowheel) so clicking the stepper arrows increments instead of dragging the node
- Preserve local palette and greeting-sloth toggle when the synced record predates those fields, and re-push them, mirroring the customization handling (new paletteSaved and greetingSlothSaved response flags)
- Add settings-search scroll targets (data-settings-label) for the Profile title, description, display name, nickname, and avatar shape rows

* Preserve absent personalization fields on PUT for PR #7077

A stale client that omits palette or customization previously had those
defaults materialized by model_dump() and persisted, which flipped
paletteSaved/customizationSaved to true and defeated the legacy detection.
The PUT now dumps only the request's set fields and merges them onto the
stored record, so omitted fields keep whatever was already stored.

* Persist theme and palette via a fixed allow-list for PR #7077

The theme/palette values reach setTheme/setPalette from the authenticated
personalization sync, which made the CodeQL clear-text-storage query treat
writing them to localStorage as storing sensitive data. Store a re-derived
literal from a constant map instead, so a plain UI preference is not tracked
as sensitive; behavior is unchanged.

* Harden imported-font handling for PR #7077

- syncImportedFonts: a rejected FontFace.load() only clears the registry entry
if it still points at that face, so a same-name re-import while the old load
was pending is no longer untracked/leaked.
- Cap imported-font names to the backend length (100) so an over-long name can
no longer pass the client but fail the personalization PUT and stall sync.
- Add a backend test that a stale PUT preserves an existing stored palette and
customization (not just that absent fields stay absent).

* Return the merged personalization record from PUT

The PUT /personalization handler returned the request payload, which
Pydantic had already filled with defaults for any field the client
omitted. A partial or stale write (for example a client sending only
theme) therefore got back a response that contradicted both storage and
the next GET: preserved fields like palette and the custom font showed
their defaults instead of the stored values.

Return model_validate(merged) so the response mirrors what was stored.
The stored record is still the full merged dict, so legacy fields the
model does not know about are preserved as before.

* Fix small UI and keyboard-focus defects in appearance settings

- Settings search now scrolls to the result within its destination tab
instead of a same-named row in the previously rendered deferred tab
(for example "Storage" and "Models folder" appear in both General and
  Resources).
- The reduce-motion segmented control honors its own Off/On/System choice
by reading useReducedMotionConfig instead of the OS-only useReducedMotion.
- The color picker saturation/value area is operable by keyboard, so the
role="slider" surface responds to the arrow keys it advertises.
- Profile avatars and palette cards show a visible keyboard focus ring
  again.
- Guard the persisted appearance-customization write so a blocked or full
localStorage does not throw out of a store action, matching the theme
  store.
- Import the appearance store symbols from the settings feature barrel.

* Tighten appearance fix comments

Studio macOS: faster startup, MLX self-heal, drop obsolete prebuilt pins (#6494)
* Studio: defer llama.cpp update probes and self-heal MLX on macOS

Two macOS startup problems shared one root area in the FastAPI lifespan:

- The llama.cpp capability + freshness probes ran inline before the server
yielded, so a cold/slow/flaky network on the GitHub freshness check blocked
'Application startup complete' (~34s on CI, longer in the field). Move both
probes to a daemon thread; app.state stays None until ready (status routes
already re-probe at request time). Opt out with UNSLOTH_DISABLE_UPDATE_CHECK=1.

- Train and Export were greyed out because mlx/mlx-lm/mlx-vlm arrive only
transitively and a resolver backtrack silently drops them, so CHAT_ONLY stayed
true. Add utils/mlx_repair.py: when Apple Silicon is detected without MLX,
reinstall mlx/mlx-lm/mlx-vlm by name on a daemon thread and re-run hardware
  detection (opt out UNSLOTH_DISABLE_MLX_AUTOREPAIR=1). Surface a chat_only_reason
in /api/health plus a sidebar tooltip so a greyed Train/Export explains itself
  instead of failing silently.

* Studio: guard model defaults against a None model name

load_model_defaults(None) called model_name.lower() with no guard, raising
'Error loading model defaults for None' before any model is selected. Return
an empty dict for a falsy/non-str name.

* Studio: drop obsolete upstream macOS + Windows Blackwell prebuilt pins

Both pins worked around gaps in ggml-org upstream prebuilts, but Studio now
routes every GPU host and all of macOS to the unslothai/llama.cpp fork
(published_repo_for_host), which ships the needed bundles, so both pins are
dead code on the default install path:

- macOS b9415: macOS always routes to the fork (its own macOS bundles), and
host_supports_macos_minos() is the backstop. The pin only fired under an
  explicit --published-repo ggml-org override.
- Windows Blackwell b9360: Windows-NVIDIA routes to the fork, whose
windows-x64-cuda13 bundle covers Blackwell (manifest max_sm 120, toolkit
13.3), so the pin's self-disable check makes it dormant on every default
install; it could only activate under the same upstream override on a
  13.0-13.2 driver.

Remove the pin constants, functions, and call sites. Keep the Blackwell
capability detection (_drop_blackwell_incapable_windows_cuda, _host_is_blackwell,
_windows_cuda_attempt_covers_blackwell) that still drops a non-sm_120 cuda-12.4
build on a Blackwell host. After this, an explicit --published-repo ggml-org
override on a Blackwell 13.0-13.2 host loses its GPU fallback and lands on CPU;
the default fork path is unaffected. Update the install selection-logic and
macOS-compat unit tests for the new no-pin behavior.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Studio: walk back deeper on the macOS upstream prebuilt path

After removing the b9415 macOS pin, the explicit --published-repo ggml-org
upstream path still used the default 2-release fallback, so a pre-macOS-26 host
behind a run of macOS-26-only builds would exhaust two too-new plans (minos is
only checked post-download) and drop to a source build before reaching a
loadable older release. Walk back as deep as the fork macOS path
(DEFAULT_MAX_MACOS_RELEASE_FALLBACKS), turning the removed static pin into
dynamic discovery. Addresses review feedback on the macOS upstream fallback.

* Studio: pin transformers during MLX self-heal so it cannot break Studio

mlx-lm/mlx-vlm declare transformers>=5, but the single-env install pins
transformers==4.57.6. The self-heal used --upgrade with no constraint, so it
could upgrade transformers in the live venv and break the rest of Studio just to
make import mlx.core pass. Pin transformers to the installed version via a
constraint file: the resolver either finds an mlx build compatible with it or
fails (we stay chat-only), never upgrading transformers underneath Studio.
Addresses review feedback on the MLX repair install.

* Studio: harden MLX self-heal against an unsupported mlx-vlm

Pinning transformers alone made uv backtrack mlx-vlm to 0.3.9 (below unsloth-zoo's
mlx-vlm>=0.4.4), which imports but breaks VLM Train/Export -- so the self-heal
could clear chat-only onto a broken stack. Mirror the main installer: set
UV_OVERRIDE=overrides-darwin-arm64.txt so a current mlx-vlm coexists with the
transformers pin, require the same minimum versions unsloth-zoo declares, and
gate/validate on a full mlx_stack_available() check (not a bare import) so an
old or partial stack stays chat-only. Addresses PR review.

* Studio: filter Blackwell-incapable CUDA in resolve_upstream_asset_choice

resolve_upstream_asset_choice returned the first windows-cuda choice unfiltered,
so a Blackwell host could be handed an sm_120-incapable cuda-12.4 build while the
sibling planners drop it. Apply _drop_blackwell_incapable_windows_cuda here too
and fall through to the CPU bundle on a Blackwell host with no capable GPU asset.
Addresses PR review.

* Studio: re-poll health so MLX self-heal reaches an open UI

The sidebar cached the initial /api/health, so a successful background MLX
self-heal (chat_only flips false) did not re-enable Train/Export until a manual
reload. While chat-only for the recoverable mlx_unavailable reason, re-poll
/api/health and stop once Train/Export become available. Addresses PR review.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Studio: make the disabled Train/Export tooltip reachable

The greyed Train/Export items pass a tooltip explaining why (e.g. MLX missing),
but a disabled <button> fires no pointer events and SidebarMenuButton only showed
tooltips while collapsed, so the explanation never appeared. Wrap a disabled
button in a focusable span and show its tooltip while expanded too; enabled items
keep the collapsed-only behavior. Addresses PR review.

* Studio: gate Train/Export on the full MLX stack, not bare mlx.core

detect_hardware enabled MLX training whenever `import mlx.core` worked, but the
MLX self-heal (utils/mlx_repair) treats a stack without mlx-lm/mlx-vlm at the
versions unsloth-zoo requires as inadequate. That asymmetry let the UI enable
Train/Export on exactly the partial/backtracked stack the self-heal is trying to
repair (greyed-in-but-broken VLM export). Gate on the same mlx_stack_available()
criterion so a partial stack stays chat-only (reason mlx_unavailable) and the
background repair restores it. Addresses PR review.

* Fix MLX repair and health auth for PR #6494

* Fix macOS upstream prebuilt fallback for PR #6494

* Fix MLX stack validation for PR #6494

* Fix MLX self-heal validation for PR #6494

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Review fixes: isolate hardware-state test, robust transformers pin

- test_chat_only_reason.py: detect_hardware() assigns module globals directly,
which monkeypatch does not revert; the autouse fixture now saves and restores
  DEVICE/CHAT_ONLY/CHAT_ONLY_REASON/IS_ROCM so a chat-only verdict here cannot
leak into other backend tests (e.g. test_utils.py) on a GPU host.
- mlx_repair.py: read the transformers version from importlib.metadata instead of
importing transformers, so the install pin is not silently dropped when
transformers has valid metadata but fails to import.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Fix CI: model full MLX stack in dispatch tests, keep selection test offline

dispatch (macOS) job:
- detect_hardware now gates MLX on the full stack (mlx_stack_available imports
mlx_lm/mlx_vlm and checks dist versions), so faking only mlx.core makes the
apple_silicon_mlx profile resolve to CPU. The dispatch tests assert the routing
decision when the stack IS usable, so model a complete stack:
  test_hardware_dispatch_matrix patches utils.mlx_repair.mlx_stack_available and
  test_is_mlx_dispatch_gate patches hardware._has_usable_mlx_stack. The stack
predicate's own internals stay covered by test_mlx_repair.py.

Repo tests (CPU) job:
- test_no_cuda_attempt_on_published_path_for_13_1 fell through to a live
github_release_assets() upstream fetch after the Blackwell filter dropped every
published attempt, which the offline security scanner blocks. Stub that fetch so
the walk-back deterministically finds no usable CUDA build and raises
  PrebuiltFallback without network.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Harden MLX self-heal: prepare transformers constraint inside the try

attempt_mlx_repair runs on a daemon thread, but _transformers_constraint_args was
called before the try. A failure there (e.g. tempfile.mkstemp on a full disk or a
bad TMPDIR) would propagate unhandled and silently kill the self-heal thread.
Move the call inside the try and initialize constraint_path so any such failure
is caught and leaves Studio chat-only instead of crashing the thread.

Studio: make toast text selectable (#6423)
* Studio: make toast text selectable

Toast messages could not be highlighted or copied. Sonner's per-toast onPointerDown calls setPointerCapture(), which steals the mouse drag and stops the browser from starting a text selection. dismissible:false stops the capture but also disables the close button (same flag gates its onClick).

Wrap the Toaster in a capture-phase pointerdown handler that swallows the event on toast text only, never on its buttons, so text becomes selectable while the close button and auto-dismiss keep working.

* Studio: harden toast pointerdown guard for non-HTML targets

Cast event.target to Element (closest() lives on Element, so SVG icon targets are covered too) and guard that closest is callable before using it.

Keep the load-on-selection hint visually anchored to the control and make the on/off behavior explicit without changing the broader deferred-load flow.

* Studio: reset orphaned staged knobs on abandon and cap Max Tokens to staged context

* Studio: remove dead code and cancel staged download when loading a different model

* fix: surface staged model in run settings before deferred load

feat(hub): full-page redesign with trending feed, search, and persisted state (#6349)
* fix(hub): stop demoting cached gguf variants on mmproj or filename mismatch

- bug: a quant with its bytes on disk was marked not fully downloaded when the API-preferred main filenames did not match or the mmproj adapter was absent
- fix: fall back to the on-disk quant byte signal, the same one inventory uses for on-device, so a present quant is no longer demoted
- broaden mmproj detection to accept any mmproj-looking cached file, not only the API-preferred name

* feat(hub): full-page redesign with trending feed, search, and persisted state

- convert the hub to a full-page view with a new layout, model cards, and a sortable models table
- add a trending/latest/finetune feed with model and section deep-link params validated on the hub route
- add recent searches and rework model and dataset search with pagination and infinite scroll
- persist feed and token state through a dedicated store and persist-storage layer

* fix(hub): browse sorting, deep-link presets, dataset URLs, and persistence

- sort dropdown: drive HF-wide browse across all repos by the chosen sort, respecting format and capability filters
- section deep-link: apply the section preset (format and sort) on refresh and deep-link, not only on click
- dataset detail URL: persist the resource kind so refresh and share resolve datasets correctly
- gguf card: show a Loading state for hub-cache dir-path repos via repo-id match
- active-model CTA: New Chat now actually opens a fresh chat
- persist-storage: fix throttle keying with a Map and dedupe a duplicated util
- transport-toggle: drop redundant controlled-tooltip state

* Studio: polish hub redesign UI and unify segmented tabs

Refinements on top of the hub full-page redesign:

- Unify every segmented control (Discover/On Device, models/datasets,
Unsloth/All, recent/name/size, settings tabs, train dataset source,
profile shape, theme, OS toggle) on one filled-pill design.
- Hub list now loads in larger batches with a shorter fetch interval so
results fill in fast instead of dripping one row at a time.
- Disable remote avatar fetches in list rows and brighten the colored
initial fallbacks so they read clearly without network calls.
- Add a split master-detail view for model lists and make it the default.
- Left-align the split "Showing GGUF models" header with the rows below.
- Round the "Load more" footer box and tidy On Device stats layout.
- Show recent trainings on Recipes and Export, falling back to recent
chats when there is no training history.

* Studio: address hub review comments (filter warning + scrollMargin)

- DiscoverFetchMoreFooter only shows the "results may be hidden by your
filters" note when a filter is actually active, instead of always.
- Use the destructured scrollMargin prop directly in the row transform
  rather than reaching into virtualizer.options.scrollMargin.

* Fix/adjust Hub metadata and deep links for PR #6349

* Studio: drop avatar ring in hub split view

The split master-pane rows (discover + on device) added a ring-1 around
the owner avatar that read as a shadow. Remove it so split-view avatars
match the flat avatars elsewhere; grid cards and the full list keep theirs.

* Studio: hub sort + scope as dropdown pills beside view tabs

Recent/Name/Size and Unsloth/All were segmented controls that dropped to
their own row in the narrow split pane. Make each a compact dropdown pill
(HubOptionMenu) that sits in the header actions slot next to the view-mode
tabs in every layout, so split view no longer needs a separate row.

* Studio: align hub list header with the view tabs and rows

- Vertically center the "On device" / "Showing GGUF models" title with the
dropdown pill and view-mode tabs (items-center instead of items-end), so a
short title no longer sits low against the taller tab row.
- Nudge the back chevron 2px further left (-ml-2) so its glyph edge lines up
with the start of the row hover below it.

* Studio: align back chevron tip with the row hover edge

The arrow glyph is inset ~6px inside its centered icon box, so an
edge-aligned button left the visible chevron sitting in from the column.
Pull the button out (-ml-3.5) so the chevron tip lands on the row hover's
left edge instead of floating to its right.

* Studio: unify every bare tick on the shared check mark

Point all plain checkmarks at the canonical @/lib/tick-icon tick (the one
already used in the chat composer and menus), so there is a single tick
across the app:

- Hub: model-inspector, hub-option-menu, path-info-button were importing
the stock hugeicons Tick02Icon; switch them to the shared icon.
- Chat / assistant-ui: artifact-surface, prompt-storage-dialog, reasoning,
  tool-ui-python, tool-ui-terminal, tool-ui-code-execution, and the
tool-fallback status map used lucide CheckIcon; render the shared tick
via HugeiconsIcon instead (tool-fallback wraps it to fit its icon map).

The circular CheckmarkCircle success badges are intentionally left as-is.
No bare CheckIcon/stock Tick02Icon references remain; verified the tick
renders in every converted spot via typecheck + build.

* Studio: nudge back chevron 2px right

-ml-3.5 pushed the chevron a touch too far left; -ml-3 sits it just
inside the row hover edge, aligned with the avatars below.

* Studio: search base-model chips across all publishers

Clicking a Base model chip searches the Hub for the upstream repo, which
lives under another publisher (google, meta, etc.). It left ownerScope at
the default "unsloth", so the search hard-restricted to the Unsloth org and
could never surface the base model. Switch the scope to "all" for this action.

* Studio: label the safetensors list header "Safetensors"

The focused list heading showed "Showing Checkpoint ... models" while the
format dropdown labels the same checkpoint filter value "Safetensors". Match
the dropdown so the header reads "Showing Safetensors ... models".

* Studio: simplify the focused list heading to "Models"

Drop the format/capability composition (e.g. "Showing Safetensors Reasoning
models") so the focused list heading just reads "Models" (or "Datasets").
Search keeps its "Results for ..." label.

* Studio: drop the header refresh button to the text baseline

The refresh button sat at the heading's vertical centre. Nudge it down so
it lines up with the bottom of the title text instead.

* Studio: hide redundant "Back to Hub" in the split detail pane

In split view on large screens the master list sits beside the detail, so
the back button is redundant. Hide it there (lg) and reclaim the top space.
It stays on the small-screen overlay and the full-page detail, where the
list is hidden and back is the only way out.

* Studio: match the readme scroll fade to the left column

The detail pane relied on the sticky back-bar's fade, which is now hidden in
split view. Add the same hub-scroll-fade overlay the master list uses so the
readme fades consistently at the top when scrolled. The back-bar, when shown,
sits above and covers it.

* Studio: align Hub refresh button to the heading text bottom

* Studio: nudge Hub refresh button up to the heading text

* Studio: optically centre the HF token shield in its circle

* Studio: preview the first visible on-device row in split view

* Studio: calm the on-device row colour and fix size tooltip contrast

* Studio: fix Hub reset tab and clear search when opening a section

* Studio: fix Hub feed defaults, filter sync, and GGUF vision download state

* Studio: condense Hub redesign code comments

Studio: loading spinner consolidation and sidebar hover pill polish (#6334)
* Studio: use the shared spinner for loading toasts

The loading toast used a different spinner from the model download toast,
so 'Unloading model' and 'Downloading model' looked inconsistent. Switch
the sonner loading icon to the app-wide Spinner so they match.

* Studio: consolidate loading spinners onto the shared Spinner

Replace the duplicate ToolCallSpinner and the remaining inline loading
spinners (hugeicons Loading03, lucide Loader2/Loader/LoaderCircle, and
the hand-rolled border rings) with the shared Spinner component, then
delete tool-call-spinner.tsx. Refresh and regenerate action icons and
the shimmer button are left alone since they are not loading spinners.

* Studio: align and even out sidebar hover pills

The Recents chat rows started further left than the nav items above them
and the hover pill widths varied. Give every nav and chat group the same
pl-1.5 pr-2 so the pills line up and share one width, and on hover the
chat rows only reserve room for the kebab so the title keeps one more
character.

* Studio: address review feedback on spinner and sidebar polish

- recipe-graph-node: restore rounded-full bg-background on the spinner
wrapper so it keeps masking the grid lines behind the floating spinner
(the original hand-rolled ring had this mask).
- app-sidebar: revert the pinned-row open-state padding to pr-8 so the
unpin button stays clear of the title when the kebab menu is open.
- app-sidebar: correct the now-stale inset comment (pl-1.5 = 6px, 18px).

Studio: UI polish for sidebar, menus, hub and toasts (#6288)
* Studio: UI polish for sidebar, menus, hub and toasts

- Pinned chats: add a Pinned section above Recents with a Pin/Unpin menu
action and a hover unpin button on each pinned row
- Sidebar: align the Recents and Pinned section labels with Train, and
switch the chat Archive icon to archive-03
- Dropdown menus: pull separators in to match item width, and even out the
projects menu padding and radius to match the composer menu
- Account menu: match the divider width to the row hover width
- Hub toolbar: equalize the format, capability and sort filter widths so
the search field has more room
- Model run bar: make the quant selector hover a full pill
- Tooltips: slightly larger corner radius
- Auth: reduce horizontal padding on the submit button
- Toasts: center the model load content so top and bottom padding match

* Studio: shrink pinned unpin icon, match projects menu to composer menu

* Studio: inset dropdown separators slightly from item width

* Studio: move archived chats from the sidebar into chat settings

Archive now shows a toast pointing to Settings. Archived chats are listed
and managed (open, unarchive, delete) under Settings, Chat, Data.

* Studio: make the archive toast open the archived chats list

* Studio: keep chats archived when opened from the archived list

* Chat settings: optional delete confirmation and menu cleanup

Add a "Confirm before deleting" toggle in Settings > Chat > Data. When
turned off, deleting a chat from the sidebar skips the confirm dialog
and removes it instantly. The preference is stored client-side.

Add a separator above Archive in the chat row menu so Archive and
Delete read as a group separate from Export.

Drop the duplicate divider above "Clear all chats". The section already
draws a divide-y separator between rows, so the destructive row no
longer adds its own top border.

* Hub, dialog and page polish

Hub catalog:
- Drop "inference" from the Hub subtitle.
- Make the HF token shield a circle in the header.
- Equal, narrower filter triggers that stay a fixed width; long labels
truncate with an ellipsis instead of clipping.
- Tighter gap between the label and the dropdown chevron so one more
  character fits.
- Keep the toolbar on one row at desktop widths.
- Align the model list and row hover with the Discover tab, add right
  side breathing room.
- Make the dark-mode scrollbar lighter so it is easier to see.
- Filled size and quant chips no longer draw a border.
- Column divider uses the sidebar border color.
- Hub card extends into the bottom space.

Filters and channels:
- Add an MLX format option; detect MLX repos by library or tag.
- "Fine-tune ready" now includes 16bit safetensors, not only bnb-4bit.
- Shorten the curated channel descriptions.

Shared UI:
- New standard chevron icons (down and submenu right) shared across the
Hub, dropdown menu, menubar, project switcher and model selector.
- Dialogs get more top and bottom padding and a larger heading.
- Guided Tour hides itself on pages with no tour.

Other pages:
- Export and Data Recipes use the same page padding as the Hub.

* Soften popup overlays and refine hub filters

Dialogs, alert dialogs and sheets now use a light blur with a slight
darken instead of a heavy black scrim, so popups stay legible without
dimming the whole screen. Edit System Prompt and Edit Chat Template
drop their custom overlays and share the same look.

Also limit the Fine-tune ready channel to checkpoints Unsloth can
actually fine-tune (drops fp8, nvfp4, w4a16 and similar), revert chip
borders so filled chips stay visible, nudge the Run icon to center it,
and shrink the submenu chevron a touch.

* Inline chat rename and review-feedback fixes

Rename a chat inline as a rounded pill on the row instead of opening a
dialog. Enter saves, Escape cancels, clicking away saves. Projects and
training runs keep the existing dialog.

Address review feedback:
- Route the no-confirm chat delete through the shared cleanup helper so
it gets the same error toast and pin removal as the confirmed path.
- Archived chats now confirm before deleting (respecting the setting)
and pass the active thread, so deleting the open chat resets to a new
chat instead of leaving a stale thread URL.
- Only offer the MLX format filter on Discover, since downloaded
inventory rows are never tagged mlx and would filter to empty.
- Tighten the non-finetunable name match so a dot-delimited token such
as .tflite is also excluded from the Fine-tune ready channel.

* Sidebar: borderless inline rename, no name flash, align titles

Rename now edits the title as plain highlighted text with no pill or
box. While the debounced sidebar refresh catches up after a rename the
row shows the new name optimistically, so the old name no longer flashes
back in. Recent chat titles now line up flush under the Recents label.

* Profile: preferred name and avatar shape options

Add a "What should Unsloth call you?" preferred name that drives the
new-chat greeting, falling back to the first name then the login id.
Add a toggle to show the avatar as a full circle or a rounded
rectangle, applied everywhere the avatar appears.

* Settings: show version block at the top of General

Surface the Unsloth and package versions at the top of General, not
just in About. Both tabs share one StudioVersionSection so the version
fetch and markup live in a single place.

* Profile: pick a sloth sticker as your avatar

Add a curated set of sloth stickers users can choose as a profile
picture, shown below the picture shape toggle in Settings > Profile.

- Only squarish, low-whitespace stickers are listed so each one fills
  the avatar frame cleanly.
- Selecting one reuses the existing avatar persistence (localStorage),
so it sits alongside the photo upload with no backend changes.
- Image avatars now get a neutral background so transparent stickers
  read cleanly in both shapes.

* Profile: keep transparent avatars transparent

A transparent upload is now kept as WebP and shrunk to fit instead of
falling back to JPEG, which has no alpha and was painting a background
behind the image. The image avatar is also explicitly transparent.

* Profile: fall back to PNG for transparent avatars on Safari

Safari cannot encode WebP via canvas, so a transparent upload was
throwing instead of saving. Fall back to PNG, which keeps alpha and
works in every browser, before giving up. Still never uses JPEG.

* Archived chats: reset nav when deleting the open compare too

Compare panes do not write the active thread to the store, so the pair
id only lives in the route search. Derive the open chat id from the
route (thread or compare) like the sidebar does, so deleting the open
archived compare resets to a new chat instead of a dead URL.

* Profile: trim three sloth stickers from the picker

Drop the duplicate computer sloth without text on the screen (keeping
the Local one), the nature-screen sloth, and the gift sloth.

* Chat: tighten model selector right padding

Use less right padding than left so the trailing chevron does not leave
a heavy gap on the right of the trigger.

* Address review feedback on profile, reset and rename

- Give each sloth avatar button an accessible name so screen readers
  can tell the options apart.
- Reset all local preferences now clears the delete-confirmation pref,
so it returns to the safe confirm default.
- A no-op Enter in inline rename now closes the editor instead of
leaving the row stuck as an input with its blur suppressed.

* Chat: rebalance model selector padding and chevron

More left padding than right and pull the chevron close to the label so
the trigger reads balanced around the text instead of heavy on the right.

* Hub: shrink the external link dialog icon

Set the icon to size-6 so it sits proportionally in the media circle
instead of filling it.

* Hub: shrink the external link dialog media circle

Override the media circle to size-12 with a size-5 icon on this dialog
only, so it is more compact without changing the shared component.

Studio: clearer check mark and even plus-menu hover padding (#6253)
* Studio: use a clearer check mark for the app-wide tick

Route every check mark through a shared tick-icon module with a plain
tick geometry, sized slightly larger than the stock icon so it reads
clearly in menus. No Pro icon assets are vendored.

* Studio: even out plus-menu hover padding on all sides

Trim the plus-menu side gutter to 9px so it matches the 0.5rem top/bottom
padding, and drop the container radius to 21px to keep corners concentric.

* Studio: bake the tick fallback stroke at 1.5 to match the icon set

Studio: refine menu chevron, tick icon, and one-line plus-menu shape (#6251)
* Studio: refine menu chevron, tick icon, and one-line plus-menu shape

- Shrink submenu > chevron to size-3.5 in the dropdown, context, and
menubar sub-triggers so it stays centered but reads lighter.
- Use the tick-02 duotone-standard geometry for the app-wide check mark
  via a shared tick-icon module.
- Drop the fully rounded pill on one-line plus-menus so they match the
  standard menu shape.

* Studio: nudge submenu chevron down to 13px

* Studio: nudge submenu chevron down to 12px

* Studio: drop vendored Pro tick geometry, keep free check icon

The tick-02 duotone-standard path is a Hugeicons Pro asset and is not part
of the MIT free pack, so vendoring it into the source is a licensing risk.
Revert the check mark to the bundled free Tick02Icon and remove the shared
tick-icon module. Keeps the chevron sizing and one-line plus-menu changes.

Studio: fully rounded Hub pills and refreshed menu icons (#6248)
Rounds out the Hub chrome and aligns a handful of icons with the rest
of the app. The header stat pills, HTTP/Xet toggle, HF token button,
info chips, status badges and the single-row download card are now full
pills, and the All formats style dropdown matches the composer + menu
geometry. Also widens the chat options menu so "Move to project" fits
on one line, and swaps a few icons to their HugeIcons equivalents.

Changes:
- hub.css: hub-tag-soft/hub-tag-meta pills go fully rounded; a single-
row hub-download-card reads as a full pill via :has(), while the
expanded card keeps its 22px radius, border and background.
- hub-option-menu.tsx: dropdown surface and items match the composer
+ menu (22px container, 10px side padding, 12px item radius).
- hf-token-indicator.tsx, transport-toggle.tsx: fully rounded with a
fixed 26px height so they line up with the neighbouring pills.
- model-inspector.tsx, dot-tag.tsx, gguf-download-card.tsx: status and
  info chips go fully rounded.
- models-header.tsx: Eject uses RemoveCircleIcon; active model pill
  fully rounded.
- on-device-folders-dialog.tsx: folder rows use Folder02Icon.
- pickers.tsx: Recommended star uses the HugeIcons star.
- command.tsx, chat-search-dialog.tsx, prompt-storage-dialog.tsx: search
  fields use the HugeIcons Search01Icon.
- app-sidebar.tsx: chat options menu widened to w-56.

Pure styling and icon swaps, no behavior changes.

chore(studio/frontend): normalize line endings to LF (#6012)
* chore(studio/frontend): normalize line endings to LF

45 source files under studio/frontend/ were committed with CRLF or mixed
line endings while the rest of the repo and the JS/TS tooling assume LF.

Add a scoped `studio/frontend/** text=auto eol=lf` rule to .gitattributes
and run `git add --renormalize studio/frontend` so these files are stored
with LF in the index. The rule is scoped to the frontend tree (not a
repo-wide *.ts/*.tsx/... policy) so it cannot force LF on files elsewhere;
text=auto leaves binary assets (logos, fonts) untouched.

This commit is whitespace-only (CRLF -> LF) — no source content changed
(verified with `git diff --ignore-cr-at-eol`). It is intentionally
isolated so it can be listed in .git-blame-ignore-revs and skipped by
reviewers and `git blame`.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* chore: ignore the frontend LF-normalization commit in git blame

Add .git-blame-ignore-revs listing the whitespace-only line-ending
normalization commit so it doesn't pollute `git blame` output. GitHub
applies this file automatically; locally run
`git config blame.ignoreRevsFile .git-blame-ignore-revs`.

Studio: rounded rectangle hover states for menu items instead of pills (#6210)
* Studio: use rounded rectangles for menu item hover states instead of pills

Dropdown, select, and model picker items previously used fully rounded
pill highlights. Switch them to an 11px rounded rectangle so hover and
selected states match across the plus menu, profile menu, run settings,
selects, and the model picker. Also add a small side gutter to the plus
menu so item highlights sit slightly inset from the menu edge.

* Studio: concentric menu corners, wider gutters, single-item pill menus

Container radius now equals the item hover radius plus the side gutter
(12px + 10px = 22px) so the curves run parallel. Menus with a single
item render as fully rounded pills. The profile menu gets the same
gutter and hover radius. Model picker rows go back to their original
fully rounded hover.

Studio: llama.cpp update banner redesign, About tab license info, UI polish (#6196)
* Studio: llama.cpp update banner redesign, About tab license info, inline system prompt editing, naming cleanup

- Redesign the llama.cpp update banner to match the chat composer surface
(borderless rounded card, composer shadow, Hellix Medium title), rename
actions to Update and add a 15 minute Remind me later snooze
- Keep the banner up until the user explicitly acts on it; drop the
  outside click dismissal
- Add a Settings > General > Notifications toggle to disable the banner
for training-only setups (on by default)
- Rename the Help settings tab to About and add a License section
(Unsloth Studio AGPL-3.0, Unsloth Core Apache-2.0) linking to the
  license files in this repo
- Make the run settings system prompt box an inline editable textarea;
the popup editor opens when the prompt overflows the box
- Pointer cursor on the preset dropdown chevron
- Dark mode toasts use the chat composer surface color
- Replace standalone Studio with Unsloth in user facing strings; keep
Unsloth Studio, LM Studio, Fine-tuning Studio, Recipe Studio and CLI
  commands unchanged

* Studio: open the system prompt popup on box click, balance banner padding

- The system prompt box opens the Edit System Prompt dialog on click,
  matching the pencil action
- Slightly more bottom padding on the llama.cpp update banner so the
spacing reads even next to the action pills

* Studio: replace unsloth studio update with the installer commands in update guidance

- The unsloth studio update command no longer works, so the About tab
update section now shows the one-line installer (curl or irm) for
PyPI and unknown installs, and git pull plus the local installer for
  checkouts
- Add a short note that unsloth studio update is no longer supported
- Link the Installation, Updating and Windows install docs pages
- The package update banner now copies the platform installer command
  instead of unsloth studio update

* Studio: rounder account menu, inline system prompt box with popup from the label

- Account menu corners go from 14px to 18px via a specific override,
since list menus pin border-radius globally
- llama.cpp banner bottom padding 22px
- System prompt is an inline editable textarea again; clicking the
System Prompt label opens the popup editor, and an overflowing
prompt opens it on box click

* Studio: show the standard install commands in the About update section

- Both one-line install commands (MacOS/Linux/WSL and Windows
PowerShell) are always shown, labeled like the docs, since running
them again updates an existing install
- Drop the unsloth studio update deprecation note
- Add the Mac install guide to the docs links

* Studio: clearer platform toggle and layout in the About update section

- Section heading is Update
- Platform picker is a pair of pill buttons, MacOS / Linux and Windows,
and only the selected platform's install command is shown
- Intro reads: To install or update Unsloth
- Local update heading separates checkout guidance from the standard
  install command

* Studio: report GitHub branch instead of dev for source checkouts

A source checkout not on an exact release tag now shows
GitHub <branch> (e.g. GitHub main) as the Studio version in About.
Detached or unusual HEADs still fall back to dev.

* Studio: tighten the About update section copy and toggle styling

- Platform toggle buttons are borderless pills
- Shorter local update wording and restart note
- Docs links read Mac and Windows

* Studio: tighten line spacing in the sidebar account button

* Studio: fix vanishing compact MCP icon on hover, single line pill tooltips

- Compact caret pills (MCP, RAG) keep their icon on hover for inactive
pills too; the off switch hover rules hid the icon while compact mode
hid the X, leaving an empty slot
- Compact icon tooltips and single line compact tooltips render as full
pills; wrapped tooltips keep the 9px corners. TooltipContent measures
line count in a ref callback since Radix mounts portal content
  without re-rendering the wrapper
- 1px gap between the name and Unsloth lines in the sidebar account
  button

* Studio: Projects hover plus button, align recents with the label

- Hovering the Projects nav item reveals a plus button that opens the
New project dialog, with the same circular hover treatment as the
  chat row actions
- Recent chat titles start at the same x as the Recents label
- The system prompt overflow lock only engages for a non-empty prompt
with a laid-out box, so a mis-measure cannot turn clicks into the
  popup

* Clip system prompt overflow inside the rounded box

Wrap the inline system prompt textarea in a rounded overflow-hidden
surface so scrolled text and the scrollbar stay inside the box. The
focus ring moves to the wrapper via focus-within.

* Add updating progress bar to llama banner and shorten settings copy

While an update is applying, the banner action row becomes an
indeterminate progress bar that keeps animating under reduced motion,
matching the other loading indicators. Settings descriptions across
General, Profile, Appearance, Chat, Connections, API, and About are
trimmed without losing meaning.

* Address review: desktop update note, server platform detection, zh-CN keys

The About tab no longer shows terminal install commands in the desktop
app, where the bundled backend updates through the built-in updater;
it shows a short note and the docs links instead.

fetchDeviceType now sends the auth token to /api/health, which only
reports the server platform to authed callers, and caches only a
server-reported value. Copied install commands then match the host
platform rather than the browser when they differ (WSL, SSH).

zh-CN gains translations for the new notification and license keys,
the renamed About tab title, and the desktop update note.

* Real download progress for llama.cpp updates, prompt and sidebar polish

The update worker now streams the installer output and parses its
download percent lines into job progress, exposed via the update-status
API. The installer emits finer non-tty milestones when
UNSLOTH_PROGRESS_PERCENT_STEP is set; the worker requests 5 percent
steps. The banner renders a determinate bar from the reported fraction
and falls back to the sweep until the first percent arrives.

Also removes the focus ring on the inline system prompt box and
slightly shrinks the Projects hover plus icon.

Studio: fix nested dropdown submenus clipped by the menu alignment nudge (#6143)
* Studio: fix nested dropdown submenus clipped by the menu alignment nudge

The 3px alignment nudge on DropdownMenuContent used translate, which
makes the scroll container the containing block for nested
position:fixed submenu wrappers, so overflow clipped every submenu
(plus menu More and Projects, sidebar chat menus, Recents export).
Use margin for the same visual shift without a containing block.

* Portal dropdown submenus so ancestor styling can never clip them

Rendered inline, the fixed submenu wrapper lives inside the parent
menu's scroll container, so any transform there (like the 3px nudge)
re-enables overflow clipping. Portaling to body removes the submenu
from that subtree entirely, same as DropdownMenuContent.

Studio: clean-room compact RAG (knowledge bases, hybrid search, fast indexing) (#5910)
Adds a self-contained RAG stack to Studio: knowledge bases with chunked indexing, hybrid (dense + lexical) retrieval, and an automatic first-pass context inject into chat. Embeddings run through a local llama-server GGUF backend (default unsloth/bge-small-en-v1.5-GGUF) with a sentence-transformers fallback. The chat tool loop gains a search_knowledge_base tool, a per-turn re-search cap, and source citation, layered on top of the shared ToolLoopController.

feat(studio): Hub + Download Manager (#5916)
Adds the Studio Hub and download manager: browse Hugging Face models and datasets, download GGUF and safetensors with live progress and cancellation, and manage on-device inventory. The Hub does not require a GPU, so it is available on chat-only hosts.

CI: all substantive checks pass, including the three Core jobs after unsloth-zoo#736. The two red checks are non-code flakes, a transient npm-registry DNS resolution failure in the package scan and one quantized vision-model output assertion whose sibling shards passed.

Studio: refine tool call and reasoning trigger UI (#5873)
* Studio: refine tool call and reasoning trigger UI

Tool call triggers:
- Chevron fades in on hover or keyboard focus and sits next to the
label instead of being pinned to the right edge, matching the other
  collapsible triggers.
- Labels wrap instead of truncating so long tool names and search
  queries stay fully readable.
- Smaller chevron for a lighter look.

Reasoning trigger:
- Smaller chevron to match.
- Thinking box drops its bottom padding and raises the streaming max
height so more of the thinking text is visible.

* Studio: pointer cursors and sidebar 3-dots polish

Collapsible triggers:
- Pointer cursor on the reasoning, tool call, and tool group triggers
  so they read as clickable.

Chat sidebar:
- Swap the chat row 3-dots menu to the vertical more-vertical icon.
- Pointer cursor on the chat row and its menu button.
- Chat row right padding opens up on hover (pr-4 at rest, pr-8 on
hover) so the title keeps a comfortable gap and clears the menu.

* studio: refine tool-call spinner, chevron, and reasoning spacing

- Use the lucide arc spinner for running tool calls and the app-wide
Spinner, so loading states match the rest of the UI.
- Collapse long tool-call labels to a single line with an ellipsis,
reveal the full label when the row is expanded, and fix the clipped
  descenders.
- Keep the collapse chevron next to the label and add top spacing above
  the reasoning trigger.
- Remove the redundant nested spinner in the web search running state.

* Studio: drop tool call group background fill

The ghost tool call group used a translucent bg-muted/10 fill that read
as a faint lighter box around every group in dark mode. Remove the fill
and rounding so the group sits flush on the chat background.

studio: redesign chat composer (#5891)
* studio: redesign chat composer

Reworks the new-chat composer and the compare composer into a single
rounded pill surface with a softer, lighter look.

- New welcome screen with a time-of-day sloth mascot and a lighter
  heading.
- One rounded composer surface with a soft drop shadow. The input grows
inline as you type and collapses back to a single row when cleared.
- Tools and attachments live in a single plus menu; the thinking control
is a compact pill with a reasoning-effort submenu.
- Inlined glyphs for the thinking, send, and dictate controls, kept in
sync across the main and compare composers.
- Toast notifications match the composer surface: no border line, the
same drop shadow, and the same dark surface color, with a ring-less
  close button.
- Dark mode: the side-menu shadow blends into the background, hovered
menu rows read clearly, and their roundness matches light mode.
- Composer styles use dedicated unsloth- prefixed classes so compare
mode keeps its own stacked layout.

* studio: sync compare-composer reasoning state and harden compare id

- Compare composer: keep "Preserve thinking" consistent with reasoning,
matching the main composer. Enabling it now turns reasoning on, and
disabling reasoning (the None option or the Thinking toggle) turns it
off, so the invalid "preserve on while thinking off" state can't occur.
- Guard crypto.randomUUID in the Compare action. It is undefined in
non-secure contexts (HTTP over a LAN IP) and would throw; fall back to
a timestamped random id, matching createNavigationNonce.

* studio: reflect pre-selected Search/Code tools when no model is loaded

The Search and Code pills only lit up when the tool was usable right now
(a model loaded and capable), so a tool turned on from the + menu showed
as off in the pill while the menu showed it on. toolsEnabled is persisted
and takes effect once a capable model loads, so the pill should reflect it.
The pills now disable only when a loaded model lacks the capability, and
otherwise reflect the selected state. Applied to the main and compare
composers.

* Studio: link MCP Servers heading to its PR and fix composer pill cursors

Make the "MCP Servers" heading in the chat Configuration sheet link to the
MCP PR, keeping the chevron as the toggle. The label and chevron are rendered
as siblings so we don't nest an <a> inside a <button>.

Also add cursor-pointer to the composer pills and the thinking pill so hovering
a clickable pill shows the hand cursor instead of the default arrow.

* Studio: refine chat composer and add compare-mode parity

- Composer expands to two rows only once the input wraps to a second line,
not on the first keystroke. Re-measure the autosize textarea on the width
swap so expanding no longer leaves a stray blank row.
- Light-mode composer shadow now matches Gemini's soft elevation.
- Plus menu: replace Canvas with a More submenu (Canvas, Compare chat, RAG)
and add Code above MCP. Active Web search/Code items use medium weight.
- Compare mode: the plus side menu, Search/Code toggles, and a Compare exit
pill now match single chat, with the thinking control on the right.
- Projects menu entries link to their tracking PR (#5725).
- Add cursor-pointer to the composer plus button.

* studio: refine composer controls and chat search shadow

- Active tool pills show an x on hover to signal click-to-disable
- Plus button rotates into an x when the tools menu opens
- Composer surface uses a 32px radius and a taller single-line height
- Even, ChatGPT-style spacing between the plus and tool pills in both the single and compare composers
- Send and mic circles resized and spaced, with the arrow centered in the circle
- Chat search box gets a borderless, soft Gemini-style shadow

* studio: size the pill hover x to match the icon it replaces

Cross-engine checks (Chromium, Firefox, WebKit) flagged the active-pill
hover x as a fixed 14px, so it popped smaller than the 19px Code icon.
Fill the glyph slot instead so the x tracks whatever icon it covers.

* studio: do not persist Kimi search/thinking mutual-exclusion in single composer

The single-chat composer flipped the other control off when toggling
search or thinking on Kimi, but without { persist: false }, so it
overwrote the user's saved preference. Match shared-composer and keep
the side effect session-only.

* studio: pointer cursor on model selector trigger and menu items

Add scoped marker classes so the model picker trigger and every
clickable element in its menu (tabs, model rows, delete, eject) show a
pointer cursor; disabled items stay not-allowed.

* studio: pass baseUrl when resolving reasoning caps in single composer

The docked composer omitted baseUrl, so a custom Gemini OpenAI-compat
gateway still advertised the native thinking ladder the backend cannot
honor. Pass selectedExternalProvider.baseUrl like the compare composer
so the resolver hides it.

* studio: grey side-menu hover, green pill hover, thinking hover x

- Plus side-menu items hover grey in light mode, not the green accent
- Thinking pill hovers green like the Search and Code pills
- The plain Thinking toggle shows an x on hover when active, matching
Search and Code; the effort dropdown trigger keeps its bulb

* studio: make the pill hover x a uniform size

The x filled the icon slot, so the wider Code chevron gave a bigger x
than Search and Compare. Pin it to a fixed 15px, centered, so every
pill's x matches.

* studio: broaden chat attachments, fix active hover color, gemini shadow

- Accept svg, source code and many text/config files as drag-and-drop
or picked attachments, matched by extension since their MIME is
unreliable; html keeps its own adapter
- Active (green) side-menu items keep their text and icon color on
hover instead of switching to the accent color
- Composer surface uses Gemini's soft centered shadow 0 0 20px rgba(0,0,0,0.04)

* studio: keep the thinking pill full height when icon-only

The inactive thinking pill has no label, so its flex row collapsed to
the icon height and the hover box looked short. Reserve one text line
(min-height: 1lh + padding) so it matches the Search and Code pills.

* studio: refine composer menu, drop overlay and greetings

- Open the MCP servers dialog directly from the composer plus menu
- Redesign the drag-and-drop affordance Gemini style, drop the badge and border, make the whole chat page a drop target
- Swap in Hugeicons for the RAG, attachment chip and new project icons
- Add time-based randomized welcome greetings, each matched to a fitting sloth

* studio: rename artifacts toggle to Canvas and make it opt-in

- Label the toggle Canvas everywhere, matching the plus menu
- Stop greying out the Canvas menu item; it toggles like the other items
- Only show the Canvas pill in the composer row once it is turned on, since it is less central than Search and Code

* studio: wire Canvas and MCP composer toggles, even out the pill row

- Open the MCP servers dialog from the menu, or toggle MCP on/off once a server is enabled
- Force MCP off when no server is enabled, so the toggle stays honest
- Show Canvas and MCP as opt-in pills that appear in the order they were toggled on
- Expand the composer and light up the pill when Canvas or MCP is on, like Search and Code
- Keep Compare directly after Code in the compare composer
- Use the same Code icon on both composers and give every pill an even icon slot

* studio: tidy composer toggle row and fix MCP enable/disable lifecycle

- Enable MCP automatically after a server is configured via the toggle flow
- Force MCP off everywhere once the last enabled server is removed
- Collapse the pill labels to icons only when more than 4 pills show, keeping Compare labelled
- Order Compare first in compare mode, before Search and Code
- Use the same Code icon and an even 19px icon slot across both composers
- Match the compare composer surface padding and send button inset to normal chat

* studio: revert compare composer padding change that cramped the input

Matching the surface padding to normal chat clipped the textarea text and
left a white strip on top. Restore the compare composer's own padding, which
gives proper top spacing. The send button inset fix stays.

* studio: center welcome greeting and soften composer scrollbar

Center the sloth and title together over the composer instead of
shifting the row left, which left the greeting sitting off to the side.

Keep the composer textarea scroll thumb faint by default and only darken
it when the thumb is hovered or dragged, so a tall draft no longer shows
a heavy dark rail.

* studio: match composer plus-menu tool gating to the pills

The new plus-menu tool entries did not carry the gating the visible pills
already enforce, so the menu and pills could disagree about a loaded
model's capabilities.

- Web search and Code menu items now disable when a loaded model lacks
the capability, while still allowing preselection with no model loaded.
- Enabling Web search from the menu on a Kimi model now flips thinking
off as a session-only change, since Kimi forbids search and thinking
together. This matches the Search pill.
- Added an Images menu item, shown only for image-generation models and
disabled until a model loads, so a short prompt has an entry point.

Applied to both the single-chat and compare composers.

* studio: round the active-pill hover x and even out pill padding

The hover x sat bare and the trailing label was tighter to the pill edge
than the leading icon, so the pill looked lopsided.

- Give the hover x a soft circular background that fills the icon slot,
matching the ChatGPT-style toggle and the icon it replaces.
- Add a little more trailing padding so the label and the leading icon
have even breathing room, and keep icon-only compact pills symmetric.

* studio: nudge the thinking bulb icon up by 0.5px

Bump the thinking lightbulb from 15px to 15.5px in the single-chat and
compare composers so it sits a touch larger next to the other controls.

* studio: drop the hover x circle on icon-only pills

When pills collapse to icon-only, the circle around the hover x is too
cramped in the small chip, so show a bare x there and keep the circle
only on the full-width labelled pills.

* studio: space the compare send button like normal chat

In compare mode the Thinking control sat right against the send button.
Match the normal composer's control spacing (gap-1.5 plus a send margin)
so Thinking has the same breathing room before send. The send button
keeps its 14px inset, so its position is unchanged.

* studio: make collapsed pill hover a circle, not a wide pill

Icon-only pills were wider than tall, so their rounded-full hover
highlight read as a fat rounded rectangle. Make the compact button a
square and center the glyph so the hover (and the x it reveals) sits in
a clean circle.

* studio: fix compare pane drops and audio picker lifetime

- Skip the page-level drop handler when the composer is hidden, so files
dropped on a compare pane are not swallowed by a hidden composer; the
shared compare composer keeps handling drops through its own dropzone.
- Build the audio file input on document.body instead of inside the plus
menu, so the menu closing on select no longer unmounts the input before
the OS picker returns and drops the file.

* studio/chat: stop projects list from white-screening on older backends

The projects list API returned data.projects directly, so a backend that
omits the field handed back undefined. useChatProjects cached that value,
then the next mount read undefined.length and crashed the whole chat page.

Default the projects and threads list APIs to an empty array and keep the
hook null-safe so a bad response can never poison the cache.

* studio/chat: align MCP dropdown with the + menu and add a chevron

Reuse the + menu surface (unsloth-plus-menu) for the MCP dropdown: rounded
corners, narrower width, neutral grey hover, and enabled rows shown as green
text with a right-aligned check instead of the emerald underlay. Add a
chevron to the MCP pill so it reads as openable, matching the Thinking pill.

* studio/chat: make MCP an opt-in pill and fix its dropdown placement

- MCP is back in the + menu as a toggle. The pill now only shows in the
composer when MCP is on, matching Canvas, instead of always sitting there.
- The dropdown follows the composer side like the + menu (opens down in the
welcome composer, up when docked) rather than always opening upward.
- Drop the dropdown caret when pills collapse so the icon is not squished.
- Stop force-syncing mcpEnabledForChat to the server count; the + menu owns it.

* studio/chat: MCP expands the composer, drop sidebar Compare, tidy scrollbars

- Toggling MCP now expands the composer and shows the tool pills, the same as
Canvas, instead of leaving the row collapsed.
- Remove the Compare item from the sidebar now that it lives in the + menu, and
point the compare tour step at the side-by-side view instead of the old button.
- Both sidebars only show their scrollbar on hover, and run settings reserves
the scrollbar gutter so the close button no longer shifts when it appears.

* studio/chat: tighten toggle gap, fix run-settings close button, collapsed Train

- Reduce the composer toggle gap by 2px (gap-1 to gap-0.5) in both composers.
- Move the run settings header out of the scroll area so the close button keeps
its position whether or not the scrollbar shows, and sits flush with the
topbar open button again instead of shifting left.
- Surface Train as an icon in the collapsed sidebar (it already has a labelled
  section when expanded).

* studio/chat: tighten Thinking pill X padding, create projects inline

- The Thinking pill used px-2.5, so the hover X sat further in than the left
pills. Match their pl-2 so the X lines up.
- The + menu New project now opens a create dialog and jumps straight to the
new project, instead of routing to the projects list. Shared by both
  composers via a small NewProjectDialog.

* studio/chat: soften account menu, hover scrollbars, show collapsed chevrons

- Account menu drops its border ring for the composer's soft shadow and opens
  centered over its trigger.
- Settings and search reuse the hover-only scrollbar via a shared
  hover-scrollbar class, matching the sidebars.
- Train and Recents keep their chevron visible while collapsed so it is clear
  they can be expanded.

* studio/chat: roomier, more rounded account menu

Widen the account menu, add more left and right padding on the rows, bump the
row height and text a touch, and round the corners more, closer to the GPT
account menu.

* studio/chat: trim account menu width and nudge it up 2px

Pull the account menu in slightly on the left and right (narrower box, a touch
less row padding) and lift it 2px higher above the trigger.

* studio/settings: drop outline ring, circular close hover, pointer cursors

- Remove the settings dialog outline ring, keeping just the soft shadow.
- The close button hover is now a circle instead of a rounded rectangle.
- Every clickable control in the settings dialog uses a pointer cursor.

* studio/chat: bump MCP pill icon to 14.5px

Nudge the MCP icon up 0.5px so it sits even with the other pill glyphs.

* studio/chat: bump MCP pill icon to 15px

Nudge the MCP icon up another 0.5px.

* studio/settings: add a Settings title above the tabs

Put a Settings heading at the top of the sidebar so the tabs sit below it,
matching the Claude settings layout. Hidden on mobile where the nav is a row.

* studio/settings: rounder tab hover, bigger title, less-round search dialog

* studio/sidebar: round nav row hover boxes 2px more (10px to 12px)

* studio: drop settings dark shadow + divider, add tab left padding, tune hover roundness

* studio/model-selector: roomier padding, borderless box, rounder hover rows; settings divider light-only

* studio/search: match chat box shadow (soft light, none dark)

* studio/sidebar: borderless chat context menus, rename submenu to Projects with folder-export icon

* studio/model-selector: match light corner radius in dark, drop dark shadow, more visible dark hover

* studio/sidebar: chat context menu matches + side menu styling; relabel submenu Move to project

* studio: borderless message export menu (no dark shadow), match dark corner radius to light on export menu and settings

* studio/sidebar: open chat options menu GPT-style (down-right) and widen so Move to project fits one line

* studio/chat: message export menu uses the chatbox shadow in light mode

* studio/sidebar: narrow chat options menu slightly (w-60 to w-56)

* studio: unify all download icons to Hugeicons download-01; round profile button hover 1px more

* studio/run-settings: bump header to 16px

* studio/sidebar: trim chat options menu width slightly (w-56 to 216px)

* studio/sidebar: trim chat options menu width to w-52

* studio/profile: camera-01 Hugeicons glyph and chatbox shadow on avatar button

* studio: match dark-mode corner radius to light globally (single --radius token)

* studio/recipes: borderless New Recipe menu with chatbox shadow in light, none in dark

* studio: borderless dropdowns globally, chatbox shadow in light, none in dark

* studio: extend borderless + chatbox/none shadow to select, combobox and popover overlays

* studio/mcp: nudge MCP dropdown radius to 20px so its wider box reads as round as the + menu

* studio: restore dark dropdown shadow to avoid same-color merge; greet name ~1/3 of lines; bigger sloth + more gap

* studio/train: active tab is a borderless pill (no underline), roomier padding, more tab gap and bottom spacing

* studio/chat: nudge welcome up ~5px (still vh-based) and trim sloth image to 44px

* studio/train: active tab pill is white with chatbox shadow in light, taller padding

* studio/chat: welcome offset to calc(30vh - 10px)

* studio/chat: welcome offset to 28vh (drop the -10px)

* studio/chat: tighten sloth-to-text gap by 1px (16px to 15px)

* studio/train: revert light active pill to grey fill, drop white bg + shadow

* studio: app-wide hand cursor on every clickable control (disabled excluded)

* studio/chat: welcome offset to 26vh

* studio/chat: welcome offset to 28vh

* studio/chat: harden project and thread list guards against non-array payloads

* studio/sidebar: give the profile row more height and breathing room

* studio/sidebar: trim the profile row top and bottom padding slightly

* studio/sidebar: reduce Train and Recents section label size slightly

* studio/sidebar: trim the profile row top and bottom padding a touch more

* studio/sidebar: enlarge the profile hover area top and bottom

* studio/sidebar: increase profile hover roundness by 1px

* studio/sidebar: trim the profile row top and bottom padding slightly

* studio/sidebar: trim the profile row top and bottom padding slightly

* studio/chat: cache composer line metrics so wrap detection runs once, not per keystroke

* studio/chat: restore the prior view when exiting compare opened from the + menu

* studio/tests: drive Compare from the composer + menu after it moved out of the sidebar

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio/tests: open Compare from the composer + menu in the extra UI suite too

* studio: fix chat dictation microphone access

* studio: snappier plus-to-x spin and steady composer expand gap

Speed up the composer plus icon morph from 480ms to 300ms.

Add row-gap on the expanded composer line so the space between the text
and the controls row stays the same whether the box expanded from
wrapped text or from a toggle being on. The gap sits on the line, not the
input, so the placeholder max-height clamp never crops it.

* studio: only show composer tool pills once a model is loaded

Persisted Search/Code/Canvas/MCP toggles were surfacing the composer pill row on a fresh page load before any model was selected, so an empty composer looked different from the clean just-ejected state. Gate the composerExpanded tool checks on modelLoaded so a model-less composer stays collapsed, while saved preferences still apply the moment a model loads.

* studio: hide RAG composer menu item temporarily

Hide the placeholder RAG entry from the composer plus menu in both single chat and compare until the feature is ready, and drop the now-unused DatabaseIcon import.

* studio: let composer tools pre-select before a model loads

Selecting Web search, Code, Canvas or MCP from the + menu with no model
loaded did nothing visible: the toggle turned on but the composer never
expanded, so the pill stayed hidden. Drop the model-loaded gate from the
expand check so an active tool always surfaces its pill.

Align MCP with the Search/Code pattern too: grey it out only when a loaded
model lacks tool support, so MCP stays toggleable and the pill stays
clickable before a model is loaded instead of looking disabled.

* Studio: manage chat history with projects

Group chats into projects with a dedicated projects page and route.
Sidebar shows recents with per-row actions and a vertical more-vertical
menu, and the sidebar scrollbar stays hidden so rows never shift on
hover. Includes chat settings and composer refinements.

* Studio: projects sidebar and breadcrumb polish

Sidebar:
- Remove the Compare nav item.
- Widen the sidebar to match the projects layout.
- Replace the scroll-gated bottom fade with a static fade pinned above
the profile box, so it no longer attaches to Recents or lags the
  collapse and expand animation.

Topbar breadcrumb (chat-page):
- On a project landing show "Projects" linking to the projects list.
- Inside a project chat show the project name and chat title, with the
project name linking back to that specific project page.
- Drop the divider between the model selector and the breadcrumb.

* Studio: make project workspace delete test cross-platform

test_chat_project_delete_files_removes_workspace rooted the project under
pytest tmp_path, which resolves to /private/tmp on macOS. The workspace
delete guard refuses paths under the system denylist by design, so the
test passed on Linux CI but failed on macOS.

Add a workspace_projects_home fixture that keeps tmp_path on Linux and
Windows (CI unchanged) and falls back to a home subdir only when the temp
root is on the platform denylist. Derive the workspace path from the
created project so it tracks the projects home.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Studio: satisfy import-hoist check for new path re-exports

documents_root and project_workspaces_root are re-exported from
utils.paths but only referenced as __all__ string literals, which the
import-hoist safety net does not count as a use. It flagged the two newly
added re-exports as unused imports and failed Source lint.

Name-load both via a module-level _REEXPORTED tuple so the check sees
them used. No behaviour change; consumers still import them from
utils.paths.

* fix: avoid projects empty-state flash

* fix: batch chat search indexing

* Studio: polish chat sidebar, run settings, and search

- Use the native OS scrollbar for the chat sidebar, Run settings panel, and chat search list instead of a custom scrollbar
- Highlight the active run in the sidebar and keep chat search available during training
- Stop the training log view from replaying when navigating back to a run
- Rename the chat settings panel to Run settings and align its toggle icon and position
- Tighten heading and sidebar letter spacing and lighten the Train and Recents labels
- Match the search dialog corner style across light and dark and drop the stray border
- Make the MCP Servers section header plain text instead of a link
- Remove a stray .orig backup file

* studio/frontend: restore Compare entry point in the sidebar

The chat-projects sidebar redesign dropped the Compare nav item and moved
it to thread-sidebar.tsx, which is not imported or rendered anywhere. That
left no way for a user to start a new model comparison (enterCompare only
fired from the guided tour and the training handoff), and broke the
Compare/Recipes/Export UI smoke test that clicks [data-tour="chat-compare"].

Re-add the Compare NavItem to the New Chat / Search group, carrying
data-tour="chat-compare" and the same new-comparison navigation as before.

* studio/frontend: use Unsloth green for the fallback profile avatar

Switch the initials-avatar background from blue to #14b789 so the sidebar
and edit-profile avatar match the Unsloth brand colour.

* studio/frontend: turn project breadcrumb into a project switcher dropdown

* studio/frontend: stop project card kebab clicks from opening the project

* studio/frontend: hide project switcher outside projects

* studio/frontend: stabilize project switcher loading

* style: project switcher alignment

studio/frontend: fix onboarding CSP violations (#5658)
* studio/frontend: fix onboarding CSP violations

Two onboarding-only CSP violations were showing up in the browser
console on a default install:

* `WizardSidebar` rendered the brand sticker from
  `https://unsloth.ai/cgi/image/unsloth_sticker_no_shadow_*.png`,
which is not in the Studio CSP `img-src` allowlist. The sticker
  rendered as a broken image.
* `Confetti` defaulted `globalOptions.useWorker` to `true`, so
`canvas-confetti` tried to spawn an OffscreenCanvas worker from
a `blob:` URL. CSP `script-src 'self'` blocks it; three blocked-
worker errors fired on the final wizard step.

Use the bundled `/sticker.png` for the brand image, and default
the Confetti wrapper to the main-thread fallback. CSP stays tight.

Resolves #5657.

* studio/frontend: harden CSP confetti fix + BASE_URL sticker

Address review feedback on #5658:

1. confetti.tsx
   - Hoist the default globalOptions to a module-scope constant so the
prop default has a stable identity across renders (canvasRef's
dependency array no longer churns every render).
   - Always force useWorker:false at the confetti.create site, regardless
of what the caller passed in globalOptions. Previously a caller that
set `{ resize: true }` would silently re-enable the worker and trip
     the CSP block again.
   - Add a lazily-mounted, module-scoped CSP-safe instance and route
ConfettiButton through it instead of the global confetti() (which
defaults to useWorker:true and would otherwise violate CSP).

2. confetti-fireworks.ts
   - Replace the direct confetti(...) calls (global instance, default
worker on) with calls to a shared confetti.create instance with
useWorker:false. The guided-tour completion confetti no longer
     trips the CSP block.

3. wizard-sidebar.tsx
   - Use import.meta.env.BASE_URL prefix on the sticker src so the asset
still resolves when Studio is deployed under a subpath (e.g.
/studio/). Defaults to "/" so single-host installs are unchanged.

tsc clean, bun run build clean, bundle confirms the changes
(`{resize:!0,useWorker:!1}` appears in every relevant call site).

* studio/tour: preserve opts.zIndex on shared confetti fireworks canvas

Address chatgpt-codex-connector inline review on #5658 follow-up:

When canvas-confetti runs against a caller-provided canvas (which is
what we need for the CSP fix), the per-fire `zIndex` option is ignored
for stacking purposes -- the canvas element's own CSS `z-index` is what
the browser uses. The previous follow-up hard-coded the shared canvas
to `z-index:99999`, so callers that pass `opts.zIndex` (or expect the
old global-confetti behavior of being able to lower fireworks under an
overlay) silently lost that knob.

Apply `opts.zIndex` to the shared canvas's `style.zIndex` on each call
(default 99999 still used when omitted). Same default; behavior is now
restored for the lower/raise case.

The current only caller (`guided-tour.tsx` invoking
`fireConfettiFireworks()` with no args) is unaffected since it never
provided `opts.zIndex`. Public API contract is preserved.

* studio/frontend: drop dead ConfettiButton + BASE_URL onboarding mascots

- confetti.tsx: remove unused ConfettiButton + getSharedConfettiFire singleton (0 callsites)
- splash-screen.tsx, wizard-content.tsx: prefix sloth mascot paths with import.meta.env.BASE_URL so onboarding works under non-root subpaths
- confetti-fireworks.ts: drop dead per-fire zIndex from defaults (caller-provided canvas ignores it; we already drive stacking via canvas style)

* studio/frontend: BASE_URL on HF icon + race-safe shared fireworks init

- dataset-step.tsx: prefix the Hugging Face dataset-source icon with import.meta.env.BASE_URL so it resolves correctly under non-root deployments. Last onboarding asset that was still root-relative after the earlier BASE_URL sweep.
- confetti-fireworks.ts: cache the in-flight init promise in getSharedFire so two same-tick callers share the dynamic import and the appended overlay canvas. Previously two concurrent fireConfettiFireworks() calls each appended a fixed full-screen canvas and orphaned the first one.

* studio/frontend: tighten confetti CSP comments

studio: add dismissable toasts with corner close button (#5509)
* studio: add dismissable toasts with corner close button

- Enable Sonner's close button globally on the Toaster, so every toast
(model load progress, model loaded, load failure, etc.) gets an X that
users can click to dismiss without waiting for the auto-dismiss timer.
This matches the Claude desktop notification behavior.
- Drop the per-toast 'closeButton: false' overrides in the model load
runtime so they inherit the global default. The existing 'onDismiss'
handler already flips state to show an inline header status, so the
X on the loading toast hides the toast without canceling the load
  (Cancel still aborts).
- Pin the close button to the top-right corner inside the toast box.
  Overrides Sonner's left-side default placement, outside-corner
translate, and hardcoded 'top: 0'. Top is set via a small rule in
index.css because Sonner does not expose it as a CSS variable.
- Add a small offset on the Toaster so toasts sit at the chat header
line, shifted left of the parameters and settings buttons on the
right edge instead of stacking on top of them.
- Bump the post-load success and failure durations from 2s and 5s to
8s so users actually have time to read and click the new close X
  before the toast auto-dismisses.

* studio: explicit boolean for closeButton prop to satisfy biome

* studio: keep close button X visible in dark mode

Two defensive fixes for the dark-mode close button visibility:

- Use resolvedTheme so sonner's data-sonner-theme always matches the
class next-themes applies to <html>. Passing theme can be 'system',
which makes sonner resolve via its own media query; that can disagree
with next-themes (Tauri webview, hydration races, OS quirks), leaving
CSS vars dark while sonner still applies its light close-button colors
  (dark X on dark background).
- Bump the close-icon stroke from sonner's default 1.5 to 2.25 so the X
is readable on a 12x12 svg sitting on dark backgrounds.

studio/frontend: make toast and inline error text selectable and copyable (#5506)
* studio/frontend: make toast and inline error text selectable and copyable

Sonner toasts and the inline model-load error in the chat header were
showing copyable content (backend tracebacks, model-load failures, log
lines) that users could not actually select with the mouse.

Two underlying issues:

1. Sonner's swipe-to-dismiss handler calls `setPointerCapture` in
   `onPointerDown`, which preempts the browser's text-selection
gesture. The capture only happens when `dismissible` is true. CSS
   alone cannot work around this.
2. The inline model-load error truncated with `text-overflow: ellipsis`
and parked the full string in a native `title=` tooltip, which
browsers render as an OS tooltip that cannot be selected.

Fixes:

- New `@/lib/toast` wrapper that defaults `dismissible: false` on every
  toast (callable plus `.success` / `.error` / `.info` / `.warning` /
  `.loading` / `.message` / `.custom`). API is identical to sonner's
`toast`, so the 18 call sites just swap their import path. Callers
can opt back into swipe-to-dismiss with `dismissible: true`.
- `<Toaster>` sets `swipeDirections={[]}` to make the intent explicit.
- `index.css` forces `user-select: text` on toast text content and
keeps `user-select: none` on toast buttons.
- New `<CopyableErrorChip>` component replaces the truncated inline
error in the chat header. The chip shows the truncated message
inline and opens a popover with the full, wrap-friendly, selectable
message and a one-click Copy button.

Toasts still auto-dismiss after their `duration`, close buttons and
action buttons still work.

* studio/frontend: tighten code comments in selectable-toast change

* studio/frontend: address PR review on selectable-toast change

Three review-driven fixes:

1. CopyableErrorChip clears the copied->reset setTimeout on unmount via
a useRef + useEffect cleanup so setState cannot fire on an unmounted
   component.

2. index.css restricts `cursor: text` to text-bearing toast nodes
   (`[data-title]`, `[data-description]`, `p`, `span`). The toast
container keeps its default cursor and no longer pretends to be an
editable surface. `user-select: text` still applies to the full toast
tree so a drag-select starting on padding still works.

3. Toast wrapper now also injects `dismissible: false` into the second
argument of `toast.promise(p, data?)`, covering the loading /
success / error toasts created from a single promise call. Explicit
`dismissible: true` in the data continues to win.

A fourth review point asked us to drop the wrapper and instead pass
`toastOptions={{ dismissible: false }}` to <Toaster>. Sonner v2.0.7's
Toaster only forwards `duration`, `className`, `descriptionClassName`,
`closeButton`, `style`, `unstyled`, `classNames`, `cancelButtonStyle`,
`actionButtonStyle`, and `closeButtonAriaLabel` from `toastOptions`
(see index.mjs lines 1144-1164). `dismissible` is not forwarded, so the
global-option approach is a runtime no-op (verified empirically across
Chromium / Firefox / WebKit). Wrapper is required.

* studio/frontend: drop chip aria-label override so message reads via SR

The CopyableErrorChip trigger set a fixed `aria-label`, which overrides
the visible message in the accessibility tree. Inside the chat header's
`role="status"` region this caused screen readers to announce the
generic label instead of the actual model-load error, a regression
versus the old plain-text status div.

Removed the `ariaLabel` prop and the default override. The button's
visible message text is now its accessible name, so the full
(untruncated) error is announced. Truncation stays purely visual via
CSS. Caller in chat-page.tsx dropped the prop too.

Added a Playwright assertion that the trigger's accessible name
contains the error message across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.

- Dark theme refactor
- Redesign right sidebar
- Further left sidebar adjustments
- Wider chat and content area; layout tweaks for chat content
- Rounded corners across elements for consistency
- Show chat message menu icons on menu-area hover, not only on message hover
- Assistant message menu icons now always visible; user messages keep on-hover
- Redesigned copy icon used consistently across chat blocks and messages
- Redesigned trash icon, applied consistently
- Unified icon sizing and style with the sidebar
- Adjusted icon colors across chat
- Fix on-hover background design for chat icons
- Fix tooltip from 'more' button staying visible after clicking elsewhere
- Adjust position and design of generation speed info text below messages

- Adjust sidebar scrollbar to cover recent chats only

* Recents sidebar rename, UI/theme refactor, layout and chat polish

UI & Theme:
- Dark theme refactor
- Consistent rounded corners across elements
- CSS polish and cleanup
- Remove unused logo image assets

Recents sidebar:
- Add 'more' button for options menu
- Support renaming conversations and training runs
- Confirmation dialog before deleting chats
- Add optional display_name column to training_runs (idempotent ALTER TABLE) so renaming doesn't lose model_name/dataset_name from the run config
- New PATCH /api/train/runs/{run_id} endpoint accepts { display_name: string | null }; empty/whitespace clears the override
- Sidebar shows display_name ?? model_name and exposes Rename in the row's More menu, mirroring the chat rename flow
- Cache last list response in localStorage and hydrate from it on mount, so recents paint instantly on F5 / route revisit; cached items are shape-validated and dropped if malformed
- Optimistic updates on rename and delete (apply locally + cache before background refresh)
- Visible toast on rename/delete failure instead of swallowed errors

Layout:
- Redesigned right sidebar
- Further left sidebar adjustments
- Updated chat content layout; chat and content area slightly widened
- Sidebar scrollbar covers recent chats only

Icons:
- Redesigned copy icon, unified across chat blocks and messages
- Redesigned trash icon to match
- Consistent icon sizing and style across chat and sidebar
- Adjusted icon colors across chat
- Fix icon on-hover background design

Chat messages:
- Menu icons now appear on hover over the menu area, not just the message
- Assistant message menu icons always visible; user messages keep on-hover (next/previous response stays visible for edited prompts)
- Repositioned and restyled generation speed info text below messages
- Restyled token generation speed popup

Tooltips:
- Removed tooltip on hover for previous/next assistant response icons
- Unified tooltip design across sidebars and chat
- Removed tooltip animations (also fixes related lag)

Model & Chat Template config:
- Merged Chat Template config into Model Configuration section
- Added revert-to-original for chat template
- Fix Chat Template config disappearing on page refresh until model reload

Performance & scroll:
- Removed chatbox movement animations across pages/navigation (fixes related UI lag)
- Fix scroll flicker at end of streaming when a code block is the final element
- Additional chat scroll improvements

Bug fixes:
- Fix 'more' button tooltip remaining visible after clicking elsewhere

* Remove sidebar localStorage cache and optimistic updates

Drops the localStorage hydration and optimistic rename/delete logic from the recents sidebar; reverts to fetching fresh on mount.

* Fix missing cn import in shared-composer (regression from merge)

* chore(sidebar): import sidebar deps from feature indexes

Re-export deleteChatItem / renameChatItem / useChatSidebarItems / SidebarItem / useChatSearchStore / ChatSearchDialog from @/features/chat, and removeTrainingUnloadGuard from @/features/training. Switch app-sidebar.tsx to consume them via the public feature indexes instead of deep paths, clearing the no-restricted-imports eslint errors. No behavior or UX change.

* fix(studio/frontend): reload training Recents sidebar after F5 refresh

The Recents sidebar showed empty after a hard refresh. The hook's inFlightRef dedup guard collided with React StrictMode's double-mount in dev: the second mount's fetch returned silently with no error, no retry, and no toast — leaving the sidebar empty until navigation.

Replace skip-if-busy dedup with abort-previous via a hook-level AbortController. This also fixes a latent race where a slow poll could resurrect a just-deleted row by clobbering the optimistic update.

Changes (all in use-training-history-sidebar.ts):
- fetchRuns aborts any in-flight request before starting a new one; post-await signal.aborted check drops stale responses.
- Optimistic helpers (applyRunUpdate, removeRun) abort in-flight fetches so they don't depend on caller discipline to invalidate stale data.
- Initial load gets bounded retry-with-backoff (500ms / 1.5s / 3.5s) and surfaces a sonner toast with a Retry action on final failure.
- Failure toast auto-dismisses on any successful load (initial retry, Retry click, or polling recovery).
- Polling pauses while the tab is hidden and catches up on visible, avoiding wasted requests during long training runs.
- Both effects own their teardown explicitly (abort + clear timer).

* Apply unified tooltip design and behavior across remaining pages for consistency

* UI polish: spacing, tooltip on source icons, letter spacing, smaller icons, consistent edit icon

- Adjust tiny spacing between elements around the UI for subtle polish
- Redesign tooltip on source icons for web search / tool use, consistent with the new design
- Adjust chat text letter spacing
- Smaller icon sizes
- Replace 'edit message' icon in chat with the new Rename icon used in Recents for consistency

* chore: remove creative preset assumption

* fix(studio): align speculative decoding default

* fix(studio/chat): snap numeric param inputs to step grid

- Type a value in any param input (Temperature, Top K, Max Tokens, etc.)
now clamps to [min, max] and snaps to the slider's step grid, killing
off-grid values like 1.051234 and FP residue from slider drags.
- Branch picker chevrons share the action bar's 32px height + 10px radius
via a new .aui-branch-chevron-btn utility; hover area aligns visually
while staying narrower than the sibling icon buttons.

* fix(studio/chat): keep training-run polls converging and drop dead preset code

- Keep training-run polls converging when responses outrun the 5s interval
(don't unconditionally abort prior in-flight; skip if one is still pending,
  mutation race still guarded).
- Drop dead Creative/Precise preset code paths (remove 'builtin-fixed' source
  variant + unreachable branches).

* fix(studio): training-run cards show custom name + model + dataset

- Training-run cards now display custom display_name + model + dataset,
  with cross-view sync on rename/delete.

Add tauri (#5144)
* add unsloth studio desktop app

* Fix review findings

- studio/src-tauri/tauri.conf.json: retarget updater to staging repo
(danielhanchen/unsloth-staging-2); switch to unslothai/unsloth on upstream merge.
- studio/src-tauri/linux/postremove.sh: drop the interactive read loop and the
/home/* iteration. Package maintainer scripts must stay non-interactive and
must not touch other users' data.
- studio/frontend/src/app/auth-guards.ts: honor tauriAutoAuth() boolean. Failed
  auto-auth now redirects to /login; requireGuest/requirePasswordChangeFlow
only redirect to /chat when auth succeeds. The new early-return on failed
auth is intentional so the login / change-password flows remain reachable
when desktop auth is not yet established.
- studio/frontend/src/config/env.ts: keep fetched=false on health failure so
later calls retry instead of caching the client-side platform guess.
- studio/src-tauri/src/install.rs: pick the available system package manager
(apt-get, dnf, zypper, pacman); AppImage bundles run on non-Debian distros.
- studio/frontend/src/lib/open-link.ts + markdown-text/sources callers: return
boolean from openLink so callers only preventDefault on handled URLs; relative
  hrefs now navigate natively.
- studio/frontend/src/features/settings/tabs/about-tab.tsx: fetch(apiUrl(...))
so the version request targets the backend port in desktop mode. The bare
/api/health predates the Tauri webview (blame: the earlier onboarding commit,
which ran with same-origin frontend/backend); in desktop mode the webview
origin is tauri://localhost so the bare path fails.
- install.ps1: gate the install_python_stack.py hotfix on a sentinel comment
instead of a content regex; append the sentinel after applying so reruns
  are unambiguous.
- unsloth_cli/commands/studio.py _write_auth_secret: use the atomic mkstemp +
os.replace path on Windows too; chmod calls are wrapped in try/except OSError.
- studio/src-tauri/src/preflight.rs probe_existing_backends: fan out the health
probes concurrently; desktop-auth status still runs sequentially per candidate.
reqwest::Client is internally Arc-wrapped so the in-loop .clone() is a
refcount bump, not a deep clone; annotated inline.
- studio/src-tauri/src/preflight.rs run_cli_probe: wait() after kill() to reap
  the child, matching probe_cli_capability.
- studio/src-tauri/src/process.rs + main.rs: add stop_backend_detached and use
it from the tray quit handler so the 5s graceful-wait does not block the
Tauri main loop. RunEvent::Exit keeps the synchronous safety-net call.
- studio/backend/main.py: drop the permissive localhost CORS regex in
api-only mode; the explicit allow_origins list is sufficient.
- .github/workflows/release-desktop.yml: drop max-parallel: 1 so platform
builds run in parallel, and lift releaseBody to an env var so the three
tauri-action invocations share one source of truth.

* Fix review findings (loop 2)

- studio/backend/auth/storage.py update_password: clear_desktop_secret()
alongside clear_bootstrap_password() so rotating the admin password
also revokes any previously provisioned .desktop_secret. Without this,
an old local desktop credential keeps minting fresh admin tokens via
  /api/auth/desktop-login after a password rotation.
- studio/src-tauri/src/desktop_auth.rs provision_desktop_auth: wrap
  cmd.output().await in tokio::time::timeout(30s). DESKTOP_AUTH_LOCK is
held across the whole desktop_auth flow, and previously a hanging
`unsloth studio provision-desktop-auth` subprocess would pin the lock
indefinitely and freeze every subsequent desktop_auth call.

* Add review tests

* Consolidate review tests

Merge review-added tests into the existing studio/backend/tests/test_desktop_auth.py
(the PR's authoritative desktop-auth test file). Drops three scaffolding files under
tests/python/ in favor of five focused tests next to the tests they extend:
- test_update_password_clears_desktop_secret (runtime)
- test_update_password_on_unknown_user_leaves_desktop_secret_intact (runtime)
- test_cli_provisioning_delegates_to_storage_create_desktop_secret (source-level)
- test_cli_connect_auth_db_reads_storage_db_path (source-level)
- test_desktop_auth_provision_has_bounded_timeout (Rust source-level)

* Revert auth-guards.ts Tauri branches to unconditional form

The review loop on PR 5144 introduced a regression: the isTauri branch of
requireAuth redirected to /login when tauriAutoAuth() returned false, and
requireGuest / requirePasswordChangeFlow silently fell through on the same
condition. The Tauri desktop app authenticates via a local auto-generated
secret; it must never surface /login or /change-password to the user. A
failed auto-auth should let the startup layer retry, not expose a password
form.

Restore the three Tauri branches to the author's original unconditional
form (requireAuth: return; requireGuest / requirePasswordChangeFlow: throw
redirect({to: '/chat'})). Keep the rest of the review fixes -- the
apiUrl() fetch wrapping, authRedirect helper, and fetchAuthStatus refactor
are all legitimate improvements and are preserved.

* Revert release-desktop.yml to author's version

The review loop's workflow-file tweaks (drop max-parallel: 1, lift releaseBody
to an env var) are cosmetic. OAuth tokens cannot push workflow-file changes,
and fine-grained PATs cannot honor maintainerCanModify on a third-party fork.
Reverting the workflow file to wasimysaid's version lets the push go through
without needing a classic PAT with both repo and workflow scopes.

Studio: Replace assistant UI shared autoscroll with per-panel scrolling (#5127)
* Replace assistant-ui's shared-store autoscroll with independent per-pane state

- assistant-ui's useThreadViewportAutoScroll uses shared state that causes random scrolling issues on the compare page
- Replaced with independent per-pane autoscroll implementation

* Fix scroll-click scrolling for slow movements; polish sidebar animations and UI

- Fix middle-click scroll not responding to very slow movements
- Add animations to sidebar navigation icons; font adjustments
- Align app menu styling for consistency
- Fix rare lag on sidebar expand/collapse
- Smooth right sidebar (parameter tuning) animations and expand/collapse lag

* Address PR feedback: clean up unused code and polish sidebar

- Remove unused _SuggestionItem component and its dependencies (SuggestionPrimitive import, SUGGESTION_TOOLS, toolIconMap)
- Log delete-message errors to console before showing toast for better observability
- Further sidebar menu design adjustments

* Address PR feedback: auto-follow guard and NavItem cleanup

- Prevent auto-follow from breaking on short threads: gate wheel/touch detach on scrollTop > 0 so no-op upward gestures on non-scrollable viewports don't flip userDetachedRef
- Simplify NavItem: collapse identical-branch ternary and drop unused variant prop

* Address PR feedback: model selector consistency and nested scroll fix

- Adjust model selector to be consistent with the sidebar
- Fix auto-follow breaking when user scrolls inside nested scrollable regions (reasoning/tool panels): gate wheel/touch detach on innerScrollWillConsumeUpward(target) so bubbled events from inner scrollers don't flip viewport intent (Codex review)

* Filter layout-induced upward scroll deltas from auto-follow detach

Accumulator now counts distanceFromBottom growth instead of raw -scrollTop delta, so browser scroll-anchoring on auto-collapsing panels (reasoning, tool outputs) no longer falsely detaches auto-follow mid-stream.

studio: show HF model download progress in training start overlay (#4894)
* studio: show HF model download progress in training start overlay

During the training setup phase, the overlay only displayed a static
"Loading model..." line while model weights were being downloaded from
Hugging Face. On slow connections this looked like the app had frozen.

This adds a small self-contained progress block inside the existing
TrainingStartOverlay that polls the existing
GET /api/models/download-progress endpoint and renders a Progress bar
with bytes downloaded, total bytes, and percent complete.

Notes:

- Frontend only change. No backend, worker, SSE, or runtime store edits.
- Reuses the existing getDownloadProgress client wrapper and the
existing /api/models/download-progress endpoint that already scans
the HF blob cache for completed and .incomplete files.
- selectedModel is read directly from useTrainingConfigStore inside the
overlay, so no prop drilling and live-training-view.tsx is unchanged.
- Polling runs at 1500 ms and is gated on the HF repo regex
(^[A-Za-z0-9._-]+/[A-Za-z0-9._-]+$), the same regex the backend uses,
so local paths and empty form state never hit the endpoint.
- Polling stops once progress reaches 1.0 so the bar can stay at 100
until the overlay hides on the first training step.
- Network errors are silently swallowed, matching the chat side flow
(the bar simply freezes at the last value).
- When downloadedBytes is 0 the block is hidden entirely, so cached
models do not flash a progress bar.
- When the HF API cannot determine the total size, the block falls
back to "X downloaded" with no percent and no bar.

Verified with bun run build (tsc -b plus vite build, no TypeScript
errors).

* training overlay: track dataset download + show on-disk realpath

Adds a dedicated "Downloading dataset..." section to the training-start
overlay alongside the existing model-weights one, so an HF dataset that
is downloading mid-startup is no longer mislabeled as model weights or
hidden entirely. The new GET /api/datasets/download-progress endpoint
mirrors /api/models/download-progress against the datasets-- prefix in
HF_HUB_CACHE.

Both endpoints now also return cache_path, the resolved on-disk
realpath of the snapshot directory (or the cache repo root if no
snapshot is materialized yet). The overlay surfaces this under each
download row so users can immediately see where the model and dataset
landed without digging through server logs.

The frontend's existing useModelDownloadProgress hook is generalized
to a single useHfDownloadProgress(repoId, fetcher) hook that the
model and dataset variants both delegate to, keeping polling, gating,
and completion semantics in one place.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* Studio: Polish training start overlay download progress UI (#4957)

* studio: polish training start overlay download progress visuals

* Fix formatCachePath cross-platform support and redundant sizeLabel

- Extend formatCachePath regex to also shorten macOS /Users/<user> paths to ~
- Suppress sizeLabel when no byte info is available (cachePath-only state),
since the "Preparing" badge already conveys the status

* Fix misleading status badge when download total is unknown

- Hide badge when totalBytes is 0 but downloadedBytes > 0, since we cannot
determine if the download is still in progress or already complete (happens
when HF size metadata lookup fails for gated/private repos)
- Keep "Preparing" badge for the zero-bytes cachePath-only state
- Add Windows native path shortening to formatCachePath (C:\Users\<name>)

* studio: disable thinking for Qwen3.5 <9B and always for AI Assist

- Change Qwen3.5 thinking threshold from <=2B to <9B (0.8B, 2B, 4B
all disable thinking by default; 9B+ enables it)
- Always pass enable_thinking=False in AI Assist helper calls
(_run_with_helper and _generate_with_backend) regardless of chat
  thinking settings

* studio: address PR review comments

- Extract _get_max_position_embeddings helper to DRY config extraction
- Fix "Skip to Chat" to navigate to /chat on step 1 (was /studio)

* fix: comment out debug print statements

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

* studio: skip Shiki highlighting for incomplete SVG code fences

While streaming SVG content, the syntax highlighter (Shiki) re-parses
the entire growing SVG on every token, blocking the main thread and
freezing the code area until the fence closes. Show a plain-text
preview for incomplete SVG fences instead, similar to how Mermaid
diagrams show a placeholder while streaming.

* studio: fix default top_k from 50/40 to 20 for chat inference

Per Qwen3.5 docs (unsloth.ai/docs/models/qwen3.5), top_k should be 20
for both thinking and non-thinking modes. The model-specific config in
inference_defaults.json already had top_k=20 for Qwen3.5, but the
generic fallback defaults were wrong:
- Frontend DEFAULT_INFERENCE_PARAMS.topK: 50 -> 20
- Backend generate_chat_completion top_k: 40 -> 20
- Backend generate_chat_completion_with_tools top_k: 40 -> 20
- Frontend title generation top_k: 40 -> 20

* studio: set universal inference defaults for unknown models

Default params for any model without specific config:
  temperature=0.6, top_p=0.95, top_k=20, min_p=0.01,
  presence_penalty=0.0, repetition_penalty=1.0

Models with entries in inference_defaults.json (Qwen3.5, Gemma-3,
Llama, etc.) override these with their recommended values.

Updated in: frontend DEFAULT_INFERENCE_PARAMS, backend Pydantic
request models, and backend generate_chat_completion defaults.

* studio: only trust_remote_code for unsloth/ models in AutoConfig

Only set trust_remote_code=True when the model name starts with
"unsloth/". All other models default to False for safety.

* studio: move Generating spinner above the composer

The "Generating" spinner was below the send message bar, causing
the bar to jump up and down. Move it above the composer in both
the regular thread view and the welcome/empty view.

* studio: adjust toast close button position away from edge

Move the X close button on toasts (like "Starting model...") from
top-1.5 to top-3 and add right-3, giving more breathing room from
the top-right corner.

* studio: make Think button smaller with tighter icon-text gap

Reduce gap from 1.5 to 0.5, padding from px-2.5/py-1 to px-2/py-0.5,
and icon from size-3.5 to size-3.

* studio: multiple onboarding and chat UX improvements

- Move Generating spinner above composer (fixes jumping send bar)
- Make Think button smaller with tighter icon-text gap
- Chat card now inside grid (same size as Audio/Embeddings cards)
- Rename "Chat Only" to "Chat"
- Chat card requires Continue to proceed (no auto-advance)
- Continue on Chat selection skips onboarding and goes to /chat
- Tooltip (i) click on Chat card doesn't trigger navigation
- Step 1 footer Back button goes back to splash (label is "Back")
- Splash "Skip Onboarding" renamed to "Skip to Chat", navigates to /chat
- Toast close button moved away from edge

* studio: align Skip to Chat button, add Skip to footer

- Sidebar "Skip to Chat" now uses primary (green) Button style with
arrow icon, full width, aligned like step items. Shows on all steps.
- Footer: added "Skip" outline button next to Continue that goes
directly to /studio with progress saved (markOnboardingDone)

* studio: change default max steps from 30 to 60 in toggle hook

The DEFAULT_MAX_STEPS in use-max-steps-epochs-toggle.ts was still 30,
used as fallback when toggling from epochs back to max steps.

* studio: extend context length options to 262K

CONTEXT_LENGTHS now includes 65536, 131072, 262144 in addition to
the existing 512-32768 range. The onboarding step filters these by
the model's max_position_embeddings (e.g. Nemotron-3-Nano-4B has
262144), showing powers of 2 up to the model's maximum.

* studio: auto-select LoRA vs QLoRA based on model size and GPU memory

After selecting a model in onboarding, detect the total model weight
file size from HF Hub (safetensors/bin files). Then estimate memory
needed: model_size_gb * 1.5 * context_scale, where context_scale is:
  - <=8192 tokens: 1.0x
  - >8192 tokens: 1.7x
  - >=16384 tokens: 2.0x
  - >=32768 tokens: 4.0x

If the estimate fits in free GPU VRAM, default to LoRA (16-bit).
Otherwise default to QLoRA (4-bit).

Backend changes:
- Add model_size_bytes to ModelDetails (models.py)
- Add _get_model_size_bytes() using HfApi.repo_info (routes/models.py)
- Add vram_free_gb to get_gpu_summary (hardware.py)

Frontend changes:
- Add autoSelectTrainingMethod() in training-config-store.ts
- Called after model defaults are loaded
- Add model_size_bytes to ModelConfigResponse type
- Add vramFreeGb to HardwareInfo hook

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: rename "Importing ML libraries..." to "Importing Unsloth..."

* studio: show model/dataset in training status, fix LoRA/QLoRA casing

- Training status now shows 'Training "model_name"' and 'Dataset = ...'
  instead of generic "Starting training..."
- Fix Studio progress section to show QLoRA/LoRA instead of QLORA/LORA

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: rename 'Skip to Chat' to 'Skip Onboarding' on splash screen

* studio: add presence_penalty support for chat inference

Add presence_penalty as a parameter across the full stack:
- Backend: llama_cpp.py generate_chat_completion/with_tools, Pydantic
  models (inference.py), routes/inference.py pass-through
- Frontend: InferenceParams type, DEFAULT_INFERENCE_PARAMS (0.0),
  chat-adapter.ts payload, chat-settings-sheet.tsx slider (0-2),
  model defaults loading from inference_defaults.json
- Set Qwen3.5 default presence_penalty to 1.5 per official docs
- Default for unknown models is 0.0 (off)

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: fix Chat card deselecting Text and aligning with other cards

* studio: fix presence_penalty not loading from inference defaults

The inference_config.py load_inference_config() was not including
presence_penalty in the returned config dict, so the Qwen3.5
default of 1.5 from inference_defaults.json never reached the
frontend. Added it to the config builder.

* studio: add delete button for cached models in model selector

Add trash icon on each downloaded model row (GGUF and safetensors) with
confirmation dialog. Backend DELETE /api/models/delete-cached endpoint
uses huggingface_hub scan_cache_dir + delete_revisions to cleanly remove
cached repos, refusing if the model is currently loaded.

* studio: restore inference defaults, reasoning, and tools on page refresh

On page refresh with a model already loaded, the frontend was not
re-applying model-specific inference defaults (presence_penalty,
temperature, etc.) or restoring reasoning/tools support flags.

Backend: Add inference config, supports_reasoning, supports_tools,
and context_length to InferenceStatusResponse.

Frontend: In the refresh callback, when an active model is detected,
apply mergeRecommendedInference and restore reasoning/tools flags
with proper Qwen3.5 size-based defaults.

* studio: fix delete dialog closing before async completes

Prevent AlertDialogAction's default close behavior with
e.preventDefault() so the dialog stays open during deletion.
Also block onOpenChange dismiss while deleting is in progress.

* fix: add Dict and Any imports to inference models

* studio: fix Qwen3.5 reasoning threshold in frontend load path

The frontend loadModel handler had the old threshold (<=2) for
disabling reasoning on small Qwen3.5 models. Changed to <9 to
match the backend. This was causing 4B to not properly disable
thinking by default when auto-loaded.

* studio: move GGUF delete to per-variant level

For GGUF repos, the trash icon now appears on each downloaded variant
row inside the quantization expander instead of on the repo-level row.
Backend accepts optional variant param to delete specific GGUF files
(blob + symlink) rather than the entire repo cache.

* studio: restore ggufContextLength on page refresh

The Max Tokens slider was capped at 32768 on page refresh because
ggufContextLength was not restored from the status response.
Now set it from statusRes.context_length on reconnect.

* fix: remove <think> from Qwen3.5 response template marker

The train-on-responses-only feature uses template markers to find
where the assistant response starts. The Qwen3.5 response marker
included '<think>\n' which is only present when thinking mode is
enabled. With thinking disabled (default for <9B), the marker
never matched, causing 100% of samples to be dropped.

Changed response marker from '<|im_start|>assistant\n<think>\n'
to '<|im_start|>assistant\n' which works regardless of thinking mode.

* studio: fix sloth ASCII art alignment in training overlay

* fix: correct sloth ASCII art alignment to match Unsloth banner

* studio: add Python and terminal tool calling to chat

Register python and terminal tools alongside web search. Python
executor validates imports (stdlib only) via unsloth_zoo
rl_environments, runs code in a subprocess sandbox with 5-min
timeout and cancel support. Terminal executor blocks dangerous
commands (rm, sudo, etc.) and runs in a temp directory.

Update llama_cpp tool loop to show tool-specific status messages
and pass cancel_event through to executors. Rename composer
toggle from "Search" to "Tools" and show TerminalIcon for
execution status pills.

* studio: fix Nemotron/transformers 5.x support, onboarding navigation, port binding

Backend:
- Dynamic transformers 5.x detection via tokenizer_config.json fetch
(checks for TokenizersBackend class, cached per-model)
- Bump transformers 5.x version from 5.2.0 to 5.3.0 across all workers,
  setup scripts (setup.sh, setup.ps1)
- Auto-enable trust_remote_code for unsloth/* models needing transformers 5.x
(workaround for NemotronH config parsing bug in transformers)
- Auto-install mamba-ssm/causal-conv1d for SSM models (NemotronH, Falcon-H1)
with --no-build-isolation --no-deps to avoid torch version conflicts
- Add SO_REUSEADDR to port check in run.py (fixes Colab proxy stale connection
  falsely reporting port as in-use)

Frontend:
- Fix "Skip to Chat" navigation: use window.location.href instead of React
Router navigate() to bypass useEffect redirect race
- Fix "Skip Onboarding" on splash: navigates to /studio (not /chat)
- Fix onboarding guard: only check isOnboardingDone() on initial mount
- Fix Chat card on step 1: add sr-only spacer for consistent alignment
- Fix Chat+Text both selected: clear RadioGroup value when Chat is selected

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: split tools toggle into Search and Code buttons

Replace the single "Tools" toggle with two independent toggles:
- "Search" (globe icon) enables web search only
- "Code" (terminal icon) enables Python and terminal execution

Add enabled_tools list field to the inference payload so the
backend only registers the tools the user has toggled on. Both
toggles appear in the main composer and the compare composer.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: fix tool calling import validation and error logging

Replace unsloth_zoo-dependent import checker with a standalone
ast-based validator using sys.stdlib_module_names. This properly
blocks non-stdlib imports (numpy, requests, etc.) and returns a
clear error message to the model so it can rewrite using only
stdlib.

Add full traceback to tool streaming error logs for debugging.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* fix: parse gpt-oss harmony channels for clean safetensors chat output

gpt-oss models emit multi-channel output via harmony protocol tokens
(<|channel|>analysis<|message|>... and <|channel|>final<|message|>...).
TextIteratorStreamer with skip_special_tokens=True strips the special
tokens but leaves channel names concatenated with content, producing
garbled output like "analysisWe need to...assistantfinalHello!".

Add HarmonyTextStreamer that decodes with skip_special_tokens=False,
parses harmony markup via regex, and emits <think>analysis</think>
for the analysis channel and plain text for the final channel --
reusing the existing frontend reasoning UI.

Also expose supports_reasoning=True for non-GGUF gpt-oss models in
the /status endpoint so the frontend enables the Think toggle.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: use unsloth_zoo for Python sandbox validation

Set UNSLOTH_IS_PRESENT=1 and import check_python_modules and
check_signal_escape_patterns directly from unsloth_zoo instead
of a standalone fallback. This gives us the full Unsloth
validation including stdlib-only import checks and signal/timeout
escape pattern detection.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* studio: allow all imports in Python tool sandbox

Remove stdlib-only import restriction. Keep signal escape
pattern detection via unsloth_zoo for safety.

* studio: fix ReadTimeout on tool streaming final pass

The 0.5s read timeout used for cancel-checking during streaming
also fires when waiting for the first response from llama-server
(e.g. reasoning model thinking for 15+ seconds). Add
_stream_with_retry() context manager that retries on ReadTimeout
while checking cancel_event, so the model has unlimited time to
think before producing the first token. Applied to both the
regular streaming path and the tool-calling final pass.

* fix: rewrite HarmonyTextStreamer with stateful incremental parsing

The delta-on-transformed approach had two critical bugs:

1. Before the full <|channel|>X<|message|> pattern was complete, the
strip-tokens fallback emitted "analysis" as plain text. Then when
the regex matched, _transform returned a completely different format
(<think>...</think>) and the delta was computed against the wrong
base string, producing fragments like "think>", "nk>", ">".

2. Even with full matches, the closing </think> tag shifted position
as content grew, so text[prev_len:] produced garbled deltas.

Replace with stateful incremental parsing that:
- Buffers until a complete channel+message pair is seen
- Emits <think> once when analysis channel first appears
- Streams analysis content deltas (computed on channel content directly)
- Emits </think> once when final channel first appears
- Streams final content deltas
- Closes open think tags in end()

Also skip the generic all_special_tokens stripping in
_clean_generated_text for gpt-oss since HarmonyTextStreamer already
produces clean output and the generic stripping was mangling <think>
tags.

* [pre-commit.ci] auto fixes from pre-commit.com hooks

for more information, see https://pre-commit.ci

* fix: strip all <|...|> tokens in gpt-oss cleanup, not just harmony subset

The gpt-oss tokenizer has added tokens like <|return|> (id=200002) that
are not part of the harmony channel protocol but can leak into output.
The previous regex only stripped channel|message|start|end tokens.

Broaden the _clean_generated_text regex for gpt-oss to <\|[a-z_]+\|>
which catches all pipe-delimited tokens (return, constrain, reserved,
etc.) without matching <think>/<\/think> tags.

Verified: gpt-oss all_special_tokens are only <|return|>,
<|reserved_200017|>, <|startoftext|> -- none overlap with <think>.
The harmony tokens (channel, message, start, end) are added_tokens
but not in all_special_tokens.

* fix: hide config-only model repos from cached models list

Repos that only have metadata/config files cached (no .safetensors or
.bin weight files) were showing up in the Downloaded list with tiny
sizes like "1.8 KB" or "24 KB". These are just leftover config
snapshots from architecture checks, not usable models.

Filter the cached-models endpoint to only include repos that contain
actual model weight files (.safetensors or .bin).

* studio: fix toast description text contrast in dark mode

Add explicit !text-muted-foreground to toast description classNames
so secondary text (e.g. "Releases VRAM and resets inference state.")
is readable in dark mode.

* studio: fix Chat card icon alignment with size-4 spacer

Replace sr-only span (takes no space) with a size-4 shrink-0 div
matching the RadioGroupItem dimensions in other cards, so the Chat
icon aligns vertically with Text/Audio/Vision/Embeddings icons.

9cbeecc16a Incorporate PR #4304 toast UX improvements
Merge the toast UX refactor from PR #4304 (by @Shine1i):
- Toast duration 5s default with close button (X) for manual dismiss
- Inline progress bar component (ModelLoadInlineStatus) shown in the
  header after toast is dismissed
- Model switch warning only for image compatibility (not generic)
- activeThreadId tracked in store via ActiveThreadSync
- Loading state cleanup via resetLoadingUi helper
- Toast uses Infinity duration during loading with onDismiss handler

Re-applied non-GGUF download progress additions on top:
- getDownloadProgress for all models (not just GGUF)
- hasShownProgress flag, loadingModelRef race condition checks
- First poll at 500ms, bytes-only fallback when expected size unknown

11612f6dc9 studio: fix GGUF download UX -- progress bar, cancel, sorting, auto-scroll
- Run GGUF load_model in asyncio.to_thread so the event loop stays free
for progress polling during download (was blocking all requests).
- Extract download phase out of the lock in LlamaCppBackend.load_model
so unload_model/cancel can take effect immediately during download.
- Fix "downloaded" badge for split GGUFs: check total cached bytes
across all shards vs expected size, not just first shard existence.
- Respect CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES in /api/system GPU reporting so the
frontend GGUF fit estimation uses actual available VRAM.
- Sort tight variants (need CPU offload) smallest-first instead of
largest-first -- closer to GPU budget = faster inference.
- Fix cancel: use refs instead of React state for abort controller and
toast ID so both cancel buttons (text + toast) work reliably. Make
cancel synchronous (fire-and-forget unload) for instant UI response.
Check abortCtrl.signal.aborted after loadModel returns to prevent
ghost model state. Skip rollback and suppress errors on cancel.
- Dynamic top 4 GGUF models fetched from HF API sorted by downloads,
prepended to the default recommended list.
- Remove turnAnchor="top" for auto-scroll to bottom during generation.
- Set default toast duration to 10s (was infinite for loading toasts).
- Deduplicate cached GGUF repos using scan_cache_dir API (fixes
Qwen/X-GGUF vs qwen/x-gguf duplicates from lowercased HF cache).
- Pre-compile repo_id validation regex to silence CodeQL ReDoS warning.
- Change welcome text and default suggestion text.
